skinny on allen is always injured . good run blocker but hell I like the draft pick swoope and doyle want care he is gone .
most likely they will be holding hands on the benchHe will fill in decently when Gronk goes down again. Just another cog in the machine.
colts save 3 million to spend on D so I love it . we already have our te for next year .This seems like a stupid trade considering the depth of this draft at the TE position. Can get a cheaper option with that 4th round pick they just gave up and still get a very quality player in the process.
I don't really think so. Dwayne Allen post trade is at a perfectly reasonable cap number and would be a pretty effective "move" TE to use as a credible chess piece; allowing Brady to read the defense more easily. Known production over unknown production is perfectly reasonable. Brady likely breaks down within 1-5 years just knowing what his age is, and the Patriots imo are also working off of that assumption. Perfectly reasonable win-now move. This seems like a stupid trade considering the depth of this draft at the TE position. Its a little bit surprising but Allen is a very solid player when healthy. They might be trying to maximize Brady's window. I think most other teams would take the 4th round pick but this makes sense for the Pats. This seems like a stupid trade considering the depth of this draft at the TE position. I don't know of any others with a similar game to his.So can most athletic TE's with a HC with any imagination. It's mostly a waste of their time if it's the TE1.

I've seen Kelce run snaps out of what is essentially the FB position. I've seen Daniel Fells do it for the Cardinals as well. All a matter of how willing the coaches are to do it; and if the TE is a receiving threat, it behooves them more to not put him in the backfield where he is wasted. A move TE however would be more realistic and among TE2's you are mostly right, imo.I don't know of any others with a similar game to his.
Carrying a FB is a waste of time imo. That's where his value really comes into play. He can save a team a roster spot.
I'd have loved to see him in Detroit. Instead, we have a FB who never plays and no tight ends who can catch and block.
I still think there's enough to make teams respect him as a chess piece given Gronk and Edelman are also in NE. Still works, probably overpaid in terms of actual value, but it's easy to justify as a win-now move.Allen isn't the same player that he was before injury. Rookie Allen I would say huge win for the Patriots. Post injury Allen though is a serviceable player at best.
We're far apart on this one.I've seen Kelce run snaps out of what is essentially the FB position. I've seen Daniel Fells do it for the Cardinals as well. I could put O'Shaughnessy at FB for giggles for instance, but he's not very useful as an actual TE. I am moreso pointing out that versatility is really just what the coaches permit and utilize.
Who?This seems like a stupid trade considering the depth of this draft at the TE position. Can get a cheaper option with that 4th round pick they just gave up and still get a very quality player in the process.

This looks like a win/win trade to me
Who?
I'd be blown away if Butt is still there. I'd be real unhappy with Quin passing on him four times. Injury or. It.Not sure I know what you mean? If you are asking quality player well let's see in that 4th round you could maybe get Jake Butt, Jonnu Smith, Eric Saubert, Michael Roberts, Jeremy Sprinkle, Jordan Leggett, or George Kittle.
He's not just a pass catching TE though.
He can also serve as a fullback.
He's a versatile player, who has a lot of value outside of individual stats.
And do it with versatility, mind you.I heard they traded for him so he can carry Tommy's helmet on and off the field...
I have grown tired of allen so anything and save 3 million was goodThey got Allen and a sixth, I missed that part. I like the trade more for NE now.
