If it is a statutory case I would think that the r*pe kit results would mean that the victim's testimony wouldn't be needed, since that crime is just a question of "did it happen?" rather than "how did it happen?"

Valid point. I'm not sure that they include DNA? Maybe they do? I just typically think of them as used to look for signs of struggle, etc.

If it's a stat case though, the name of the victim gets sealed if I'm not mistaken, which makes the attorney's job different.

If it goes to criminal trial you might be able to get sympathy from a jury by trying to convince them that the victim is the village bicycle, but that tactic is going to get you a lot less sympathy when talking about a kid.

What do you tell 10 year olds? Well, it's potentially a great opportunity to discuss a lot of things. Drinking responsibly, first. Treating humans with respect, being in control, yadda yadda. And you're right, there are probably some 16 year olds that can pass it off, but yeesh. I will NOT stoop to the level of victim blaming, but I will say it's certainly an environment that a 16 shouldn't be near. Of course 16 year olds today have been exposed to a lot more crap than even I was, a whole 8 years ago.

If that is case, there is a bar owner who is about to lose everything. Good. And, if it's common knowledge that there are 16 year olds that look 21, then you as the multimillion dollar athlete need to make it your #1 responsibility to be absolutely sure before you put your dick in the wrong place and possibly cost yourself everything.

And any lawyer who shreds a victim in order to earn a paycheck is no different than the monster doing the crime. Perhaps worse. If she was underage in a bar, then yes she did wrong too. But has the punishment fit her crime? The punishment that is still likely to come?

I was being a bit PC, yes. It's the same shit every time. And that's not even *just* in cases of celebrities. Look at tons of examples on college campuses, the crap in Steubenville (it was there, right?), all of that. "HOW DARE YOU RUIN MY FRIENDS' LIFE!" How dare YOU think this isn't ruining hers. I think most people are very private when it comes to personal issues, and I canNOT imagine having this happen in such a bright light. This will also follow her for the rest of her life. It takes incredible courage to do something about it. I stand here unaffected and even I'm not sure I'd be able to do it. Which is why, presuming reports have some merit, I'm very impressed how little has leaked. That's a good thing. Protect her.
