Why is it that we have started out like gang busters on offense in games with Stanford, Texas, and Cal, and then completely fold? That's on the coaching staff. As Leo Durocher said, "Nice guys finish last."

I agree to a point. The problem is, the coaching staff can only prepare the players during the prior week and call the plays that have the best chance of success.

But, at the end of the day, the players have to execute the game plan and the plays. They are the ones on the field. The worst part, imo, is the penalties.

I don't even particularly have an issue with the number of penalties. If you are playing aggressive football on both sides, you are going to incur some penalties.

To me, it's when the penalties occur that is the problem. How many times have we seen drives stalled because of a penalty that came on a play where there was a significant gain or during a crucial drive?

It's not just the offense either. While they have not been as guilty as the offense, we've seen the defense about to get off the field because they got a stop on 3rd down, only see them called for a penalty to extend the drive. Biggie's penalty on Saturday was just the most recent and most costly.

A good team getting over exuberance penalties is one thing. This team gets penalties because they aren't sure about the snap count or flinch when they see the defense move. Durring this game they got a penalty after a timeout which was called because they looked confused with the play clock running out. It's all on coaching.
As for Toa. I don't blame him. I blame Clay because you saw him have issues snapping in spring ball. Hes not a center. That freshman is like 6'2 280 and was an all american in hs as a center. Clay just wont play him and cut Toas playing time.

We have not won in Autzen since 2004 I think. We did beat them last year in Tempe.
You didn't get the memo?

Lots of teams hadn't won at Autzen during their little run. It ended. Enjoy.

also to be fair they didnt play in 13 or 14. so while its been 14 years they have only played 4x in Eugene anyway.

for the Crosstown Rivalry, or the Battle of LA.

So, I am curiously surprised at how low the +3.5 line is vs USC at the Rose Bowl. Mainly because of the preseason rankings of USC prognostications, and the Bruins current 2-8 overall record.

I won't discount the Bruins chances of winning on Saturday, just expected the line to be much more in favor of the Trojans since the beginning of the season.

Sure USC had a recent set back vs a Cal Bears team in LA, the same Cal Bears team the Bruins destroyed in Berkeley 37-7. So it got me looking into it a little bit further.

Seems that both LA schools are 2-3 against common opponents, and UCLA's average win is 15.5 and USC's average win is 7.5!

Easy math when you pencil out the 37-7 UCLA/Cal Blowout game, of course the anomaly.

Hope for a good game!

Go Bruins!

Damn if Jerry Palm is right on his bowl projections for the PAC 12 I only see two teams winning their bowl games. Utah being one of them.

GL with that.

As the Bowl projections stand, they have your Utes playing Texas in San Antonio.

Them two losses the Longhorns have going back to nearly August, was by a total of 4 points. And the only loss in the State of Texas was by a single point to the No. 7 team in the Country.

Lots of talk that MacIntyre is dead man walking at Colorado now and will be fired at the end of season.

Two names already mentioned are Jim Leavitt and Beau Baldwin as possible HC replacements from the PAC coordinator ranks. Not sure if Tedford would be interested in that gig, but his name was mentioned as well.

Dood we carry the PAC12 in bowls. We haven’t lost one since joining. My thought is, if BYU can beat Texas, Utah could smash em!

The head coach at UtAh State was also mentioned!

Carried, LOL!

Your Utes have played just 3 P5 teams in bowl games as a PAC team, all wins but those teams have a combined record of 21-18.

I'll agree the Utes have been good in Bowl games, and for a lot longer than they've been in the PAC, but until your boyz are winning in the big boy bowl games can I agree your team is carrying anyone in the PAC.

Nice job beating 6-7 Indiana by 2 points 2 years ago and 7-6 West Virginia last year. Not exactly carrying anything huge there IMO.

Huge difference being good in bowl games when you are 5th or 6th in the Pac vs playing teams with a heartbeat from the top 2 slots.

Get back to us when you win the conference and THEN beat someone in a bowl. Until then you can hold the jock straps of the real teams that carry the load.

Neither team has played well this year, and I think it will be a close game. The Bruins would like nothing better than to help keep SC out of the bowl picture, and the overall atmosphere with the Trojans team seems to be on a downward spiral. I would not be surprised if we drop this game. God help us against the Irish in a couple of weeks. There may be Trojan blood from one end of the Coliseum to the other by the time that game is over.

Agree, and if Clay drops those two, it will end the suspense on his continued tenure, he's as good as gone.

So Stanford and USC then?
