Trubisky was checking down because he is currently incapable of going through his progressions and if his first read is not open... he goes straight to his check down.
So he is coming off his primary receiver and checking down. I agree. But Chase just checks down. The check down is the primary.

This is what I see consistently as well.

Daniel on the other hand had patience even when the pocket was collapsing.

Overall the offensive line didn't block any better than they had the previous 3 games. Leno was awful.
He did not have patience so much as he can't move, also the pass blocking was better last week with long sitting. Run blocking still blew.

One thing I noticed with chase was the fact that he wasn’t missing deep throws terribly. He also did the small things right that Mitch hasn’t learned yet. Chase knows the offense. I hope Trubisky takes some notes on how Chase runs the offense in Oakland. I feel like he could learn a lot.
Chase stunk it up last time he filled in. Mitch needs to play to learn not watch some old guy with a different skill set.

Chase looked pretty good filling in for Trubisky last week but I agree with the sentiment Chase isn't very good. Blitz and then cover the underneath stuff and Chase will be in trouble. A defense who has a chance to gameplan Chase is not good news.

Chase is like a coach on the field. Mitch could learn an awful lot from watching chase operate.

Chase checks down regardless of the blocking. He is checkdown Chase. He played last year 2 games and we all seen how shitty he looked.

He played pretty good on thanksgiving against detroit.

27 of 37 for 230, 2 TDs no picks, 106.8 rating.

He can manage a few games for us, but I agree, he won't get us to the promised land, particularly from week 4 forward.

Mitch HAS to improve tho. He needs to figure out how utilize his athleticism within the confines of a traditional pocket passer. Pocket, timing passer first...athlete when shit breaks down.

Right now, he acts as if every play breaks down.

It doesn't.

No.

He had patience and he allowed routes to develop and made good reads.

Please stop trying to comment on things you clearly don’t understand.

You’re making up stuff and it’s embarrassing at this point.

How does this comment even make sense in the context of the conversation?

Did I say Chase played amazing or he was gonna steamroll the Raiders?

Do you read the things you type before you post them?

The concerning thing about our run game is that after 4 weeks now and looking back, Denver, Washington and GB all have pretty suspect run defenses statistically...and we failed to run well vs both of them outside of the big gainer for Patterson. How much was play calling? How much was Mitch's poor play? How much was o-line? I'd say it's a nice fat combination of all 3.

Montgomery is not the issue. I like his approach. I think a lot of fans want to see a Charlie Garner "smash the hole and come out the other side heels-a-blazin." I like his patience and eventually it will pay off. But let's not be rash, at the moment he's a far cry from the top notch backs like Barkley, Bell and Elliott- all of whom would have made a lot more out of the nothing we give Montgomery...but what do you expect from a 3rd rounder vs. much higher picks?

Montgomery will break one here soon. The o-line has not played great.

I agree with noon with this much...Long is overrated. He is a shell of his former self.

He was a sore spot in our playoff loss too. It makes me sad. Here's hoping he steps up because I think he's starting Sunday.

I mean, I don't even know what to say to that. Did you watch Sunday? Chase was better on deep accuracy than Trubisky.

Go back and watch the deep passes he threw and compare them to all of Trubisky's deep passes this season.

Mitch's deep ball completion percentage is around 35%.....Daniel completed 66% Sunday.

Bringing up total yards is just a deflection from the point being actually talked about.

So bad...

Thanksgiving at DET

27 for 37 72% CMP 230 Yards 2 TD's 0 INT's 106.8 Rating 6.2 Y/A

at NYG

26 for 39 66% CMP 285 Yards 1 TD 2 INT's 75.3 Rating 7.3 Y/A

TOTAL: 69.7% CMP 515 Yards 3 TD's 2 INT's 90.6 Rating 6.78 Y/A

Those are eerily similar to Trubisky numbers. Since the midway point of last season, they're better.

One thing is for certain and I don't care who our QB is, we have to do a better job of scoring when we have really good field position and especially scoring TDs when we're in the red zone. With the field position we had for much of the Vikings game, we should have come away with more than 16 points.

I agree, except I did think pass pro was better. Chase had a pretty solid pocket most of the time. He still looked better in the system than Trubisky had, regardless.

I truly can't say if it will keep up. However, he was better Sunday. That's all I know.

Agreed.

Last year, I think we were even #1 in the league at scoring TD's off of turnovers. This year, it seems like we've gone three-and-out nearly every time. Get a turnover deep in opponent's territory, run 3 plays and kick a field goal.
