The officer was suspended on May 17th. the arrest took place on May 6th. 300 calls flooded the police lines in the middle. The edited version of the "truth" was published on you tube by this kid which resulted in this officer getting suspended. The Mayor succumbed to the outcry directly because this kid has the knowledge on how to edit and make a vid.

Once again how do you know that?

Are you basing all of your thoughts on this kids 20 sec fully edited vid?

Read post #22. What I saw was the kid walked up to within 20' or so and when asked what he was doing, he replied filming a documentary or something about unlawful searches. The cop rises up from the car and tells him he's under arrest for interfering with a police investigation without even telling him he was conducting an official investigation or warning him. How do you know anything was edited?

You cannot interfere with a Police investigation. Walking uo 20 feet away is interfering.

Look the cop could have handled this a different way for sure but this kid did this with the full intention of getting arrested so he could discredit this officer. Im gonna go do some research to see if this kid has been arrested by this officer previously. I am willing to bet he has been.

Yea when all is said and done he should have warned him. Odds are, this kid wanted him to say that so hat he can say he is acting within his rights and continue filming him.

All I am saying I believe that is a total bullshit law.

I have seen many videos of people filming cops knowing they are allowed to in many cases and the officer overreacts and acts violently...many times breaking the camera.

Is the cop wrong here according to the law? yes. My argument is that is is complete horse shit that someone can do this and I do not disapprove if this officers actions.

Not all of them

But they're still right's guaranteed us in the constitution. I don't disagree with the message the cop was trying to send, I disagree with the way he did it. If in fact he was conducting an official police investigation as he claims, he should have told the kid he was interfering and if he didn't leave immediately, he would be placed under arrest for interfering. Then, read him his rights, find out his name and age, then call his parents. There is a protocol set and they didn't follow it.

I can bet my life savings that either this kid has been, or his friends have been arrested by this officer. Probably doing something illegal but the officer acted in a way that is not by the books to break up whatever they were doing.

People should be able to film officers. If they are not doing anything illegal it shouldnt matter...

Ahh, but it is not within his rights to interfere with a police investigation, and if the cop warns him and he doesn't leave immediately, all bets are off and they can legally arrest the kid.

True, I am just saying I disagree with some things in the constitution. Legally, the officer loses here. Going back to my last statement, yes you are right. There was a better, legal way to handle it and he did not. The law states he was in the wrong.

My argument is more opinionated. I think the cops actions were fine and I would want him to do that to my kid if in the future he/she turns out to be a little prick like him.

I am afforded the right to speak in my own defense by our constitution, Sir. The same document which guarantees my right to liberty. "Liberty," in case you've forgotten, is "the soul's right to breathe, and when it cannot take a long breathe laws are girded too tight. Without liberty, man is a syncope."

The officer does not have to warn him. As I have said a hundred times already I bet there is a history with this kid. We do not have the entire story. All we have is a edited version of the story from a 17 yr old kid.

Yea but odds are this kid has read up on these scenarios and had a response ready for the officer to further agitate him while "acting within his rights". These kind of things don't end well for anyone.

Just occurred to me he is a minor. no records will be public. Too bad cause I got money says this kid has been arrested before.

So the cop is clearly at fault and suspended. But you are searching for a way to blame the kid. This is a huge reason why our system of juries is in bad shape.

He probably was, no one is denying that. But it doesnt give the cop the right to do what he did.

You know....the prosecution left too much reasonable doubt...fuck that lets fry the bitch anyway!

The officer's own folks did an investigation and found him at fault. What more do you need
