Orakpo & Kerrigan were 1st round picks. There will be 3 stud QB's available in next years draft. Barkley, Jones & the QB at Arkansas. This was a bad move. The Skins gave up too much. The Giants didn't give up as much when they moved up to get Eli.

You don't know that. None of us do.

My point was that it was either the picsk or Orakpo and/or Kerrigan, therefore I would rather trade picks than either one of them since they are proven commodities. If the Redskins make the playoffs the next year and these picks end up being 24 and 28 it is a great deal.

You can not call it a good or bad trade yet, and it is ignorant to try. You can call it risky, which it was, but you cannot call it good or bad.

i don't have a problem with this. it's a lot to give up in terms of picks but the skins need a qb after all the crap theyve been shuffling through here for 20 years. teams can survive this type of blood-letting if they're smart with their picks, and the skins have been smarter in the past couple years. it's easy to fall into the kill-snyder cliched criticisms, but this is not a 100million dollar albert haynesworth albatross-type deal.

qb's drive this league, and if griffin lives up to expectations, this will have been worth it. and he is not a running qb. he is a pocket passer. very smart guy, already a college grad and in poli sci, not underwater basket weaving. military kid, well spoken.

dc will LOVE this kid.

Playoffs? Mike Shanahan is one of the most overated coaches in the NFL. John Elway was the Broncos. Shanahan has been living off Elway for years. Sorry, but I don't buy what the Redskins are doing. Snyder has good intentions. He wants to win. I just don't believe the Redskins will make the right decisions in personnel to give RG3 what he needs to succeed. A WR would be nice.

I really do respect RG3 a lot. He's educated, well spoken, well raised, and his talents are greater than Vick's. I fully believe that. He's a great pocket passer on top of his athleticism, so he'll create problems, but you have to surround him with talent too. Sure, they have money, but it's a smaller market and more competitive market in FA. Also, I know Cleveland was putting together a similar deal, but I would've merely laughed more. Now they're looking at Flynn. The Browns have a terrible record with Irish QBs...Quinn, McCoy. STAY AWAY MATT!

If Manning goes to Denver or Arizona, Flynn will probably sign with Miami. Cleveland used a 2nd round pick on McCoy. If they take Tannehill 4th overall it will be a huge risk. He'll probably go top 10 though.LOL

If I were Holmgren I'd wait on taking a QB until next year, when they draft VERY high again.

i just dont see RGIII as a given, proven guy.. ya he won the heisman, but so did jason white.. he's a mobile qb that put up big numbers in the pass happy big 12.. okla st and texas tech have been churning out 4,000+ yd passers for years now and haven't produced a bonafide NFL qb

not saying RGIII wont buck the trend and be awesome, i hope he is awesome, he seems like a good kid and baylor was certainly an exciting team to watch.. but i think its an extremely big risk for a player who started as a run first QB, ran a spread, and played in the big 12.. the 3 things that the talking hold as knocks on college QB's in terms of their NFL potential

and to those guys who are saying 'if the skins make the playoffs this year', i think thats a pretty big if.. and if they do struggle, as they have for as long as i can remember, and those picks end up top 10 picks, the skins are screwed

big reward, bigger risk, IMO

what's getting lost in the shuffle is the rams made out gangbusters here.. the skins are still a TBD on how the trade works out, but the rams win no matter what.. already have the QB, and only had to move back 4 spots

RG3 is a very smart guy & one heck of an athlete. The problem I have is the Redskins organization is one of the worst run franchises is professional sports. I don't believe they will give RG3 the players around him to succeed. The one positive about RG3 is I've heard a number of receivers say they'd like to play with him over Andrew Luck. Whether or not the Redskins can make it work remains to be seen.

Have the Redskins come out & said RG3 is their guy? Can you imagine what the reaction at the draft would be if the Redskins took Tannehill with the 2nd pick overall?? LMAO!!

Agreed, huge.
if Tannehill goes 4th overall it would be a huge gamble, they would have to be convinced that Colt is NOT the guy, and be willing to use that high of a spot on Tannehill.
They could probably trade DOWN and still get him.
Richardson and/or Blackmon are just way too good to overlook at that 4 spot.
Blackmon could be a game changing WR.
And if they don't resign Peyton Hillis, who would they be left with at RB?

that deafening sound you would hear would be a black hole forming by spacetime being ripped at it's very seams by 1000's of season ticket holders cancelling their PSL's in Washington at the same time

I hope he works out for the Redskins but I am not sold on they guy at all, at least not for the price they paid to aquire him.

Although if you compare what the Raiders paid to get Carson Palmer, this deal is pretty much market value...

Big difference is Palmer is a proven commodity. RG3 is going to be a rookie thrown to the wolves next year.

Carson is also much older and on the decline. You have to pay for potential. Besides that was mostly a joke, if you are using the Raiders recent history as a benchmark for organizational success you are pretty fucked to begin with.

Redskins are heavily in on Vincent Jackson now as well, as the first piece to help with RGIII.

They already have Santana Moss and a couple of decent kids (Armstrong, Hankerson) and two of the best pass catching tight ends out there (Cooley and Davis). They need to fill out the OL though, and not just focus on WR. They are capable at RB by committee with Helu and Hightower though, I think.

That would be tampering my friend. Teams can't talk to agents or players until tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see where Jackson ends up. Word is he's going to see what's available & give the Chargers one last shot. He wants to stay & is willing to take less to do so. The question is how much less. I think VJ will be playing elsewhere next season. Which means the Chargers might take Michael Floyd if he's available on draft day.

The Redskins just got booked $36 million of the cap for violations...so much for having cap space.
