This is bullshit and what today's NFL has become - a heavy handed and oftentimes clueless commish changing things up on the fly and decreeing whatever the hell he feels like.

Just because the NFL told teams not to do this during the uncapped year doesn't mean anything - unless it is in the contract or cba or whatever the hell you call it, only then does it becomes a no no.

I'm sorry, but with all the unexplained fines in the past couple of years and stuff like this, the NFL has really lost a lot of its presteige as being a well oiled machine. Concussions are going to be the slow death of the league, just watch. Yes, the NFL is an empire, but empires can disappear rather quickly.

LOL at the red headed spokes ape (Goodell) thinking he had a leg to stand on....

"The Washington Redskins have received no written documentation from the NFL concerning adjustments to the team salary cap in 2012 as reported in various media outlets. Every contract entered into by the club during the applicable periods complied with the 2010 and 2011 collective bargaining agreements and, in fact, were approved by the NFL commissioner’s office. We look forward to free agency, the draft and the coming football season." - Bruce Allen

"The Dallas Cowboys were in compliance with all league salary cap rules during the uncapped year," said Dalrymple. "We look forward to the start of the free agency period where our commitment to improving our team remains unchanged." - Rich Dairmple

The Redskins will just play to the full cap this year and challenge it for the next calendar year. If it goes to court, Goodell will be laughed out of the room. I bet this is the end of his run as commissioner. Way to go, trying to piss on the lawn of two of the most powerful franchises in the leagues.

I will say it again.

Snyder and Jones.

Biggest and second biggest stadiums

Biggest and third biggest revenue generators.

Goodell can suck a fat one. No way this stands.

Do you honestly believe the rest of the league gives a shit? Every owner in the league is EXTREMELY wealthy. The League has revenue sharing. This ISN'T going to be overturned. Every team in the league was told not to front load contrtacts. The Redskins & Cowboys didn't listen.

When a team gives up 1st round picks they need all the cap space they can get to improve their team. That's 36M over the next two seasons that could have been used to make the Redskins better. Trust me it hurts, BIG TIME.

We get it, you don't like the Skins and you think it was a stupid move. Give it a fucking rest already, Bolts.

This is all pretty hilarious. I don't think it's a huge deal because I think we are a few years away from being competitive anyway. But one writer put it well...

It's hard to see the NFL's argument on this absent a clear explanation of the rule. If they wanted to avoid teams using the uncapped year to their advantage, then they should have come to a labor agreement with the players in time in order to avoid the uncapped year.

Exactly. Besides that, if anyone thinks the Cowboys and Skins have created a competitive advantage for themselves, they clearly haven't checked the standings in a few years. ;)

I have nothing against the Redskins. I'm a Chargers fan. What the Redskins do doesn't concern me in the least. I just think it was a bad trade. I think Snyder has good intentions he seems a bit impulsive & gets a lot of BAD ADVICE.

30 posts saying the same thing says otherwise. I just think it's a little redundant and unnecessary. But I like San Diego, we won a Super Bowl there once.

As A Raiders fan the redskins trade made me feel better about our horrible trades :D

A lot of high profile writers/analysts have said they like it and think it could benefit both teams. Hey, we've sucked for a couple decades now. I'm all in favor of taking a chance to not suck. If it doesn't end up working out, well, we're used to that already.

A good debate never hurt anybody.:D:

It's not a "debate" when you say the same thing over and over, are presenting something as fact that is pure speculation, and are making comparisons to past trades that are completely out of proportion with this one.

The draft is a crap shoot anyway so i suppose i would rather give up picks than players.See Jamarcus Russell that said dont think i'm sold on rg3 either.Have the Redskins already decided on RG3

I honestly thought we would never see this kind of trade in the NFL again. I hope for the Redskins sake RG3 is worth it because with Jeff Fisher involved with the Rams I fully expect them to draft better than they have in the recent past.

I've already said I would have taken Tannehill and continued to build the team with more picks. They had a GREAT draft last year. But I understand why they made this move as well and it may pay off. I'm at least excited about the Skins for the first time in awhile. And think he's overrated or not, it's nice to see a smart, level-headed, mature guy being brought to Washington. Shanahan has changed a lot that was wrong with the culture of this organization. Hopefully, this is another step in that direction. Time will tell. It's certainly the move that will define his tenure with the Redskins for better or worse.
