I've already said I would have taken Tannehill and continued to build the team with more picks. They had a GREAT draft last year. But I understand why they made this move as well and it may pay off. I'm at least excited about the Skins for the first time in awhile. And think he's overrated or not, it's nice to see a smart, level-headed, mature guy being brought to Washington. Shanahan has changed a lot that was wrong with the culture of this organization. Hopefully, this is another step in that direction. Time will tell. It's certainly the move that will define his tenure with the Redskins for better or worse.

There wasn't any guarantee that Tannehill would be available at 6. Cleveland might take him at 4. If the Redskins wanted a QB they had to move up.

If I were A skins fan I would entertain the thought of going outside the box an pick A QB later and take Matt Kalil.

I honestly thought we would never see this kind of trade in the NFL again.

Why? It happens several times a decade. And the QB position is more valuable than ever with the rules being so offense friendly these days. If anything, this makes more sense than it did 5 or 10 years ago.

The Giants did this to get the #1 pick (Eli) and gave the Chargers the Giants 1st and 3rd round pick that year, and 1st and 5th round pick the year after that. How did that one work out?

The 1st pick overall for the 5th pick overall a 3rd round pick then a 1st & a 5th the following year is quite different from a what the Redskins & Rams did.

The Skins gave up a 1st & 2nd this year. A 1st next year & a 1st the following year. They aren't even getting the 1st overall pick like the Giants did.

The Chargers actually wanted the Giants 2nd round pick the year Eli was drafted, instead of the 1st the following year.

I didn't ask how they compared. I asked how it turned out.

I have no complaints about the trade. I didn't want Eli after the way his family handled the situation. The Chargers should have won the Super Bowl in 2006 & might have if a DB hadn't fumbled the damn ball after he decided to run instead of taking a knee after intercepting Tom Brady. Shit happens. Marty got fired & deservedly so. I was at that game & EVERYONE knew he was getting the ax after that CHOKE.

AJ Smith & Norv Turner should have been fired two years ago. The Spanos family is loyal to a fault.

I agree. Barkley, Jones & the kid from Arkansas will all be available next year. It's going to be a good year for QB's in 2013.

IMO I would take any one of the 3 over RG3 but i'm not a fan of running qb's.Hell I cant name one running qb that has won a superbowl.I'll take a good pocket passer any day of the week.Kalil is a beast of an offensive lineman and is very athletic for his position

Steve Young ring a bell?

RG3 completed over 70% of his passes last year & is very intelligent. I think he can be a very good QB in the NFL. It's just too bad for the Redskins they didn't have the 2nd worst record in the league.

My take on both sides.

St. Louis - converted a first round pick into three first round picks and a second round pick. Short of RG3 throwing for 10,000 yards a year, I think they made a solid trade that will absolutely help them build a great team going forward. They have a QB they are comfortable with, and no reason to risk RG3 busting or even being only a minor upgrade. In this trade, they win.

Washington - Made a serious run at becoming a contender again. Don't get me wrong - they are NOT a contender with this alone, and it was an incredibly risky move, as they are basically betting 3 years of top prospects that RG3 is worth it. If RG3 busts or even is only good, they are in trouble. But I would imagine it has generated tons of local buzz about the Redskins. They probably needed that, as the Redskins haven't been very good for a long time. I think they'll probably do a lot better when it comes to attracting some free agents. From a PR standpoint, as owners to the fans, I imagine this was a good move. However I cannot at this time consider them a winner in this trade. They might become one if they can get adequate talent and win the division for once, and while I don't share elo's optimism (or at least lack of pessimism) when it comes to that, I admit the possibility is there.

So it's either a win-win or a win-lose trade, with the Rams winning either way. I don't like it for the Skins - you can't win without taking risks, but I feel this is a very big risk - but maybe their ownership felt that this risk had to be taken. I hope it pays off for them (in the sense that they make the playoffs and lose to the Eagles in the NFC championship game multiple times and watch the Eagles win multiple Super Bowls), but only time will tell.

Absolutely. RG3 was a passer first and a runner third (second was more passing). At one point five or six games into the season, he had more touchdowns than incompletions. I don't think he'll transition quite as quickly as many expect, though he is a good fit for the Skins' system. That said, the Skins' system kind of sucks, so I'm not really sure that's a complement.

God they need an oline.

I will always view young as a pocket passer who ran when he had to

The NFL, it's owners and players are guilty of collussion at the least, and extortion at the worst here:

1. The other teams voted to punish the Redskins and Cowboys to be punished for:
1. breaking a non-existant rule
2. abiding by the CBA
3. if they voted against it, they were given an extra 1.6 million in cap space

2. The NFLPA was told the new cap would not released until the players approved one of two plans:
1. A cap that was below the one in 2011
2. A cap that was slightly higher if they agreed to punish these two teams

(seriously, WTF, this is laughable)

Every one of the contracts was approved by both the NFL and the NFLPA.

When the Eagles, Giants and Cowboys players, supporters and press are coming to the defense of the Redskins, something is really wrong. The Skins will spend the money this year, and spend the next calendar year ruining Goodell's life.

Skins just signed Pierre Garcon. GREAT pick up. Garcon is a great receiver, but he does have a few concussions on record now. 5 years, 42.5 mill. Interested into how that will work into their salary cap plans. Of course, they'll probably sign whomever they can this year, hope for an appeal win, or just deal with it next year.

Redskins signed Josh Morgan as well, a really good under the radar guy. Niners are hot and heavy after Mike Wallace now....and he is listening....

any team willing to sign wallace will have to overpay him by quite a lot. There are rumblings that the steelers will be willing to rework contracts to acquire more cap space to match any offer that comes through the door, thereby driving his price up even higher.

FUCK NO. That...that would terrible. Terrible meaning that would be really fracking dangerous. I WANT WALLACE DARN IT! With all the cuts/moves the Steelers have made they certainly made it seem like the priority was keeping him. However, if I'm being honest, ABrown is our #1 receiver. Perfectly capable. But, we'd only have him and Sanders. Not a lot of depth.

Steelers will match any offer Wallace signs. He won't go anywhere.
