For their part, the NCAA has stated that Baylor never even asked for a waiver for him, which would have allowed him to receive some support for living expenses.
There's precedent for that too, so there's a good chance it would have succeeded.
It sounds to me like there's something more to this story that we're not hearing.
I'm guessing Baylor would have known what to do - or at least put in a serious effort - had they been really intent on helping him.It could simply be that the kid didn't know that he had to do this stuff. I understand of course that the onus is on the athlete to be responsible about it, but I'm assuming he was probably 19 or 20. My biggest complaint is that they discipline stuff like this (or stuff like getting one free dinner) like their lives depend upon it, but the big stuff that we all are aware happens at some big schools goes ignored.

I get where you're coming from though. I wish they'd come down hard on these programs more often like they did to USC.
Jays let their players play on this???
Well they do deeply care.Yeah, the school is guilty as well...I mean, I can rant on both D1 football programs and the NCAA for hours. If my kid ever gets that opportunity, I'd have to contain my eye rolling when coaches come and recruit pretending like they deeply care.

Oh wait, you meant about something besides winning?
Nevermind then.
My HS fields weren't that bad.
