Just as a heads up, if you are going to Germany, I might fold in Austria while your'e there. It's like Germany... but more beautiful. Did a trip to Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich years ago. They were all great, but Salzburg was just amazing. It's barely over the German/Austrian border and just a gorgeous, laid back city. Beautiful mountains, birthplace of Mozart, and you can rent a bike and cruise the countryside on all kinds of bike trails.

Agreed. I left out the details, but I want to do a Germany/Austria/Switzerland trip, depending on the time I am alotted when I do indeed make this trip I may throw Italy in there as well.

Hungary was a pleasant surprise (caveat: about 10 years ago).

Budapest is a gorgeous city, with so much history, and was super cheap (in comparison to the rest of Europe).
wandering around the city, you see roman ruins, stuff in celebration of the turn of the millennium (the year 1000, not 2000). Walk into a random church, and they have the preserved had of some Queen or King from 800 years ago. Swans swimming on the danube, There is a wine country very nearby.
I went to an opera there, and for about $20, got seats right next to the royal box.
the one at the end, just to the left of the big one in the middle

here's the outside of it

this was pretty spiffy too.

and there are soooooo many hot women. good gravy.

Hungarian women are fucking hot. I managed my stepfathers gentlemen's club for 6 years and we used to get Hungarian dancers from time to time, they were gorgeous.

Krakow is a great city if you want cheap too.

Only about a 90 minute bus ride from the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp site and you can also visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, which is maybe 30 minutes by train out of town. Damned thing has a full size ballroom carved out of the salt something like 300 feet underground.

I figured she was one in a million, but then I got out there and met her sister :jaw:

lol. no, I was pretty darned pleased with the one I was with.
also, her sister didn't speak English, and I didn't speak Magyar, so we had to muddle through conversations in partial French on both sides.

Lol, your fucking nuts, bet it was awesome though! The bus trip to Chichen Itza was insane, some of those villages were so dirt poor. They were living in houses made of friggin 4 pieces of sheetmetal standing up with like a damn bed sheet as the roof. I cant imagine living like that.

I really would love to visit some of those jungles down there, but like you just saud, it is pretty crazy down there with the militant groups. Wouldn't stop me though, just hard to find other people interested. I really want to go to Pantagonia though, it is gorgeous down there in Argentina/Chile.

I saw the same thing in Mexico on the way to the Mayan Ruins very sad and it made you feel guilty just getting off of a cruise ship and riding in a beautiful tour bus.

I never gave so much money to pan handlers as I did down there where the ships dock. The Mayan Ruins were great though.

So you have your choice of forced labor, starvation, and torture OR torturous low-paid labor in poor lighting.

The brochure practically writes itself!

I haven't read the whole thread so sorry if this has been discussed.

Has anyone ever been to Japan? I've always wanted to go there, I heard it is expensive as all hell tho. A guy that worked for me used to go there ever two years because his wife was Japanese to see her fam.
