Chaz Green?

Was another OT really needed over a DT (Bennett??), RB (Ajayi), or QB (Petty)?

I loved their first 2 picks, but this one is a head scratcher.

Doug Free cannot play forever, so a tackle isn't a bad pick.

Don't know anything about the draft, but it's never a bad move to fortify your lines.

Not sure I would have gone 3rd round for the pick tho. I suppose depth is always good on the the Oline and Dline so in that sense I'm certainly not complaining.

Petty is a wasted pick, and I'm not sure Ajayi is anything special either.

Not every pick is gonna be a homer, so maybe they know something we don't about the guy.

He's not a wasted pick according to the multiple scouts who watched him play at Baylor and at the combine.

Oh I completely agree. I don't know anything about the guy so I'll just have to trust their gut but given the needs I really would have liked to see DT or RB.

I don't get wanting to take Petty either. And if the best RBs were already gone, then I cannot raise too much of a stink over this pick.

I've heard 1st round to about 4th round so I guess it just depends on who wants to bite the bullet and do it but I'm certainly not opposed to drafting a QB in the early to middle rounds and really put the effort in teaching and grooming him and at the very least you'd have a day 1 legitimate/competent backup QB IMO.

Right. If you're not sure who to take, fortifying your lines is a smart move.

I've seen him play. I'm not a scout, but there's too many things I don't like about him. His pocket presence is not good, for one.

Romo or bust...unless you get a legit first round talent I don't think the gamble is worth it on these QBs. Wilson was one of those rare guys to do something at the position out of the first round. If Romo goes down and his career his over, what is Petty starting instead gonna do for the team? Maybe win them enough games to miss out on a top 5 pick?

Well, just as you said with Doug Free not being around forever, the same goes for Romo. There's a lot to like about Petty as a project to groom as Romo's eventual backup.

But really, I wanted them to take a DT or RB there because those are immediate needs.

I honestly don't believe there's a legitimate NFL quarterback in this draft. Petty isn't even in the top 3.

I would expect Green to start a lot sooner than Petty though. It's the same debate every year, Cowboys don't have the luxury of spending a pick on a QB in the third round.
