Yep, and his whole campaign was geared around military spending. I'm serious, Obama better grow a sack, 'cause its looking like he is sadly going to be re-elected. Finding and killing Osama was under his watch, but not due to him, this can and most likely will become a serious threat.

is that the general consensus amongst americans? Didnt he step up Kill/Capture? Or would the war machine have convinced any sitting US president to do the same? :noidea:

Behind the strike that killed Osama bin Laden was one of the U.S. military's best-kept secrets: a covert campaign that officials have credited with taking out thousands of Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters.

pbs documentary on it was very riveting ... dubbya first authorized it but the program went into high gear when Obama came to office ... which goes back to my question ... would any sitting president have been convinced to do the same

Interesting. I would like to see that. But, my honest opinion? Yes.

I just don't personally think Obama has what it takes to handle global threats with force. Diplomacy doesn't always work.

I do not think so. A former and would be president have both stated that finding Bin Laden was not a priority to them. Obama made that a focus and followed through.
Personally I do not know many Americans who do not credit Obama for the Bin Laden killing, some even do not like him and begrudgingly give him credit.

its not just Bin Laden though ... i just wonder if the tactic of drone attacks and night raids on supposed terrorist leaders would fly with just any president ... white house has done a great job cleansing the nature of these "incidents" though

I really doubt the military leadership is calling the shots and Obama is just averting his eyes to whats going on ... yet people think hes a pussy while Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders are been blown to shit in the middle of the night by drones

A lot of people might not know as much about the drone attacks and raids. IMO the people who call him a pussy or think he is weak is just repeating a political party stereotype without putting any real thought behind it. He has a lot of flaws, but being weak or timid is not one of them.
Just my 3 cents.

Obama finalized a project started by the Bush administration in an election year. However I do give him credit for completing the task. I just dont believe Obama will make a preemptive strike against a nation that could become a threat and/or that makes a threat.

I like having a somewhat imperialistic president in the sense that they will end a problem before it begins. I, again IMO, just don't see Obama setting a nation straight by whatever means necessary before we are faced with a severe threat.

I am probably in the minority, but yes. If there is sufficient evidence that a nation is building an army to possibly begin a war against the "free world", and/or is harboring nuclear weapons, then I am all for taking them out before any of the real BIG shit hits the fan.

I honestly don't see Putin as a risk to the US at all.

The older generation of Russians may still harbor a grudge against the US, but the younger generation loves it (or maybe more broadly, Western "decadence" in general, not just US).

If you visit Moscow, there's two very high-end shopping malls that people love, the younger people all wear designer clothes and shoes, and they love McDonald's, TGI Fridays, and American cigarettes.

Because of all that, I don't think that the people will let the government pull one over on them like they did after the Russian Revolution. There's no popular support and there's no evil boogey-man that they can point to to scare the people. Not to mention that the internet, cable news, etc. will make it much harder for the government to randomly disappear people without people knowing what's happening.

But hey, you never know. Just my opinion.
