Sorry about all those horrible posts I made last week, I was hungry and I'm sure my blood sugar was low or high or something. My blood salt too I'm sure.

Let's just pretend it didn't happen and move on.

I'm on a regimen of hourly milkshakes now so it won't happen again.

RIP Yaphet Kotto. Great actor. I always liked him but I recently found a new respect for him. My wife and I are watching Homicide on DVD (she never saw any and I saw the first 10 episodes 3 times) and he is so good. In my head I think of the times when he is angry or loud - and he is great at that but there are times in Homicide where he is so soft spoken and subtle. He was great.

He was the type of actor that when you see him in a film, that film is going to be entertaining (just like Gene Hackman). RIP
I think it's more impressive with Hackman because literally everybody he's ever worked with hates his guts. People loved this dude.

He seemed really nice.

“Cut it out, man—call me Yaphet!” For a movie icon and Hollywood recluse (he now lives in the Philippines), Yaphet Kotto—no need to address him as “Mr. Kotto”—sure is a sweetie.

I remember hating this as a 9 year old. I was part of the target audience too. Lol

He didn't get along with Friedkin at all, barely got along with Wes Anderson on Royal Tanenbaums (and got slapped hard by Angelica Huston), and I know there were problems on the Hoosiers set but I can't remember what.

Jon Cryer said he was nice on Superman, though.

I have nothing to back this up with other than having seen some of his movies, but I'm guessing Anderson is no picnic to work with either. He strikes me as the type that would complain to his bartender that the IPA selection isn't sufficiently hoppy.

I can also see Hackman 'not getting' Anderson's movie at his age. And Friedkin was insane for a large portion of the 70s. But I have heard enough that I am sure that Hackman could be a handful.

He didn't. His agent had to actually convince him to do it and Anderson had lined up Michael Caine as an alternate but he did really want to work with Hackman.

True but Murray does seem to like him a lot.

Then again there's enough Bill Murray's an asshole stories out there to fill a book (and they did - Live From New York was fantastic!) so maybe Hackman's just usually the only sane guy in the room.
