one of the online brokerages i use has the eternal message "due to high market volatility, waiting times are....."
first couple of times I had a mini panic, as "market volatility" is code for "shit going down, and fast", and i hadn't noticed any volatility that day.
had to quickly check while I was on hold to realize they were lying.
I suppose that's better than "Please enter your SIN # and send an Apple Music card to this address".

Burger King taking a slightly different approach for Womens' Day

They even posted this on twitter: :L

But now looks like they deleted it, even with their sad attempts are clarifying it.

They should follow it up with "We should have picked a better time of the month to make the comment".

Keep in mind this is the same company advertising their "improved" breakfast sandwiches at Tim Hortons in Canada with the tagline "Now made with REAL FOOD!".

Lol. It cracked me up when McDonald's started advertising "fresh beef" on the quarter pounders... but not anything else. Hahaha! It was kind of like..."fiiiiiine. we'll actually try on at least ONE sandwich!"

This is what happens when you listen to Doug in the marketing meetings. No chance he'd be working here if his dad didn't own the company. This was a gaff but not as bad as his February "Hey Black People Get Back in the Fields" campaign to improve racial diversity on farms that supply Burger King.

My boss once worked for a company that arranged an offsite meeting. They provided a bus for 30 people, and everyone else had to drive. They wound up taking the bus to another location and gave them their pink slips. That's how they chose who to lay off.

My boss was about to get on the bus but someone offered her a ride so they could talk about a project on the way.

She left the job a month later. As did about another 20.

I once worked for a dot bomb company, and they literally wrote the names down in a Nine In Nails cassette tape.
Basically you were into Nine inch Nails (ie laid-off) or you weren't. I wasn't but quit a few weeks later.

Not yet, I've sent in my social insurance number, debut card pin and bank password as they requested and still nothing yet... I'm so excited to get them
Thank you by the way. I was also able to fill up the wife's and son's cars.

Just had someone try to get me to join in their righteous indignation over "cancel culture" in the toy aisle at Meijer. They had 4 Mr Potato Heads in their cart. I didn't bother because there is no sport in verbally punching someone that stupid.

But it got me thinking, there is someone in Marketing at Hasbro that is a God Damned genius. Not only did they figure out a way to save 2 cents per toy in production (stop making mustaches), they also figured out how to clear out the dead stock on shelves because, let's face it, kid's today aren't really clamoring to stick faces on tubers so the shit doesn't sell. If they had just changed it and not said anything, no one would have noticed and this dingus wouldn't have rushed out and bought four of a toy that was probably on the shelves for over a year. But now they are selling. All because some marketing guy released a statement and got mouth breathers all spun up about the status of a potatoes hypothetical penis. Brilliant.

And now when "Mr" sells out, they will release the "new" thing that is in no real way different except for the box, and all the organic free range parents are going to line up to buy it AGAIN.

My only problem is I haven't figured out how to make money off these donkeys.

I saw a post a while ago that made the argument that so much of the publicity around "woke" politics is by design so that people ignore what governments & corporations are actually doing (example: left goes nuts over something, something gets "cancelled" & the right goes crazy over cancelation. Rinse & repeat). It's not crazy to think that corporations have learned to earn some extra money by engaging in some mild wokeism.

those Dr Suess books are apparently going for thousands on ebay.
caveat - not sure if that the selling price or just listing price, as I didn't care enough to look.
