Because of Covid and mismanagement I now sometimes get pressed into giving people new laptops when theirs are old. I have been dreading giving this woman hers for days, she has been kind of nasty, cancelled twice, and bitched about the 90 mile drive to pick it up (I get it, but you took the job and have been out of the office for a year so you can do this). Joke was on me, she was delightful. I am not going to view people and things with an open mind and a new attitude.
^Now I am angry. At myself. I allowed myself to be convinced my instints were wrong and they were not. When everything went well on Wednesday she was pleasant, now for the past 2 days I have been getting nasty emails because things are not as she seems to think they should be with the new laptop. (they look different)

"we have major problems!"

Yep, back to the old me. People are awful.

Sounds like a classic case of buyers remorse. On so many levels.

After she was done with me she put a ticket in with our help desk so I found out what her "major problem" was. She thought saving a shortcut from her old laptop then copying it to the new was the same as the program being installed on the new. Something I could have helped with if she had explained what was happening.

I'm not making fun of her, with Covid and no real structure in my workplace* we all have to do things we may not be trained or knowledgeable in. I have to ask for help all the time but I'm a fucking human about it. I don't try to berate people into helping.

*I delivered a baby the other day, it's not in my job description but I didn't complain and just manned up and did it

What about the first person to eat an egg? Like someone just sat there and said "I'm gonna eat the next thing that falls out of that chicken's butt."

Also, the person who discovered popcorn must have really been freaking out.

They have to buy a lot of infrastructure, and probably invested heavily there when COVID sent their business through the roof.

point is, they don't have a factory selling widgets.
it's an app, and not a particularly sophisticated one.
