Stance: Goofy
Yeah, and he (Esposito) gave it to PK, I think it was... and I was like... uhhh.
Really? I didn't know that. I guess I will hear that tomorrow on Sports Express.
Yeah, and he (Esposito) gave it to PK, I think it was... and I was like... uhhh.
Also, I was listening to Sports Express on Sirius, the BEST place to hear what Canadian Radio listeners got to hear Yesterday, and they were talking to Phil Esposito about the ESPO awards. He apparently gives awards every year. The part that caught my attention was the Bobby Orr trophy. They talked about the nominees:
Doughty
Beauchemin
Chara
Suter
Subban.
Then they asked him to talk about the nominees without giving away who he voted for.
Then he said "I've only seen Doughty play one game on TV and haven't seen Beauchemin play any".
Really? Guess neither of those guys is gonna get it...
So then he said "I called up some of my buddies that do those games on TV and asked what they thought".
Ah. So your assessment of whether or not Beauchemin is a good defenseman is going to be based solely on what the TV play by play guy in Anaheim thinks? Got it.
He's a shero-in.The Donald Trump Award
Executive of the Year
Ray Shero- Pittsburgh Penguins
Chuck Fletcher- Minnesota Wild
Bob Murray- Anaheim Ducks
Marc Bergevin- Montreal Canadiens
Stan Bowman- Chicago Blackhawks
Garth Snow- New York Islanders
I'm not familiar with the channel you mentioned but I listen to this one on the way to work:
SiriusXM NHL Network Radio | Sirius 207 | XM 92
And here are the award nominees:
SiriusXM NHL Network Radio | ESPO Awards
And I swear they were going over the winners... Markov got comeback player of the year... I'm trying to remember who else won but I kind of tuned them out or had to take a phone call over bluetooth.
He's a shero-in.
/not my best work.
What, no owner/ownership group of the year?
This year would have been a doozie, with Jacobs, Liepold, Edwards, and the Yotes ownership group all in the running.
Am I correct that Patrik Berglund is also a RFA? Could be another offer sheet target if the Blues don't lock him up.
He's a shero-in.
/not my best work.
I think Berglund is a very good target for a 6 or 7 year contract at a reasonable cap hit.
Berglund, Stewart, Shattenkirk, Pietrangelo, Cole, Russel, and some players of less significance up for a raise on RFA status.
I have not seen a good reason to suspect STL will even crack the middle third for payroll spending. They're hugging the floor this year and have been only a few million off of the cap floor for more than a half decade+. Some of these players will be available I think.
Stillman screwed over hockey ops to make a few bucks selling the Peoria franchise (gives roster control to independent Chi group). He hasn't expanded the front office in his first year either. Things are going to be interesting in STL. Armstrong's budget may be tied to playoff performance, I think their postseason is as important as anybody's for the hockey ops dept.
Is Jonus Brodin a rookie? If so the NHL completely blew it. This guy should be rookie of the year hands down. Nobody else should even be in the conversation.
When was the last time the leading rookie goal scorer wasn't even nominated for the Calder? Oilers fans aren't happy
