as long as pronger stays on LTIR he doesnt count does he? so he will be there permantley.

canucks buy out booth and ballard and will have to find a taker for luongo (shut up Dabolts) for nothing and we should be ok. but if philly is only 6 over then they should be ok with briere and one other? can you buy out bryz with no backup plan? and what is their signing situation with current roster players?

Berglund is starting to look like a perennial prospect. You just think he's going to break out every year. His skill set seems to make it inevitable. Yet he hasn't developed yet.

He's a good player who could end up being a true first-liner.

Also, I was listening to Sports Express on Sirius, the BEST place to hear what Canadian Radio listeners got to hear Yesterday, and they were talking to Phil Esposito about the ESPO awards. He apparently gives awards every year. The part that caught my attention was the Bobby Orr trophy. They talked about the nominees:

Doughty
Beauchemin
Chara
Suter
Subban.

Then they asked him to talk about the nominees without giving away who he voted for.

Then he said "I've only seen Doughty play one game on TV and haven't seen Beauchemin play any".


Really? Guess neither of those guys is gonna get it...

So then he said "I called up some of my buddies that do those games on TV and asked what they thought".

Ah. So your assessment of whether or not Beauchemin is a good defenseman is going to be based solely on what the TV play by play guy in Anaheim thinks? Got it.

Yeah, and he (Esposito) gave it* to PK, I think it was... and I was like... uhhh.

* = Technically, I think they said that all talk show hosts/producers (at that Sirius XM NHL Network Home Ice or whatever the channel is now called) vote on each category, with Esposito being the only person to have 2 votes or something.
