Look at Detroit. Who on their roster was a first round pick? Their stars were all 3rd or later. Datysuk was a sixth rounder. SIXTH.

You need to hit the first rounders, but true success lies in the rest of the draft.

Even the few firsts they drafted that are on the team were mostly end of the round guys (Kronwall, Kindl). They do also employ a very handsomely paid 4th overall pick :rollseyes:

But you're right, scouting and development is paramount.

His goal is to bring an NHL team to Vegas starting with the 2017-18 season, which would mark the league’s 100th anniversary.
