OL play week 1

Looked rather good. Well except for Mac B. I believe by placing in Waters this week not only will it upgrade RG, but also help out Free and Travis F more with Waters being a vet that is not only able to play at a great level, but who is smart as well.

I will say that outside of the penalties that Smith played lights out against JPP and Co. I liked the play of the OL, well except for Mac B that is.

I agree. Didn't see that Frederick was tested too much, looked like they tried to double him up a few times but the line was cohesive enough to know where to shift to pick everyone up.

that's true and one of the guards has to step inside and seal the path like their taught in high school. Looked like Leary wasn't doing that. Center can't hit both lined up over him. Communication, but I like the thought of fredrick, leary and waters getting that addressed

I thought the line was very good. Both sacks Romo took were basically on him. He had time to throw all night.

Smith gets player of the night awards though ..... This kid gets it

Major improvement at center. Last few years the center play was atrocious. Smith looked like a pro bowler. Will be much better if waters gets in. Keep in mind that this was. Frederick and Leary first NFL start. They did very well for their fist action

I agree this is a subject for another time but I may have to join Fried and scream for DL and S help. Damn that hurt.

Pass protection looks a lot better so far. I was glad to see we tried to run the ball a bit more. I thought Leary was manhandled most of the night and Free still sucks. I hope Waters make a huge impact when he gets in there.

Free wasn't horrible. Not as good as he made us think he'd be but not as bad as he made us think he was either. He was somewhere in the middle. If he continues to play like he did he'll be serviceable for the time being.

And he is only 22. I'd venture a guess that most OLmen don't really start to dominate until their late 20's. As long as he can stay healthy and smart off the field (both issues we haven't seen, but the only thing that could stop him) he is going to be an anchor over there for the next decade.

When compared to MB, he wasn't. As a whole the line played better than it did last season. Now lets see if if can improve or at least stay the same. The jury is still out on the whole line, including Frederick. I like the way they played, but they can play better.

It is the NFL and defensive players make millions to make life tough on these guys. They will be beat from time to time. I think our line played pretty good. Romo still holds the ball too long at times and unfortunately for him and every NFL QB, he is going to get hit from time to time regardless of what he does. I was very happy with the OL and can't wait to see how they look with Waters.
