It is kind of ridiculous to act like winning a meaningless bowl game is significantly better than winning your conference and making the playoffs.

Is it better to be the Bengals because they won their last game that was of no consequence or the Patriots who lost their last game but are going to be in the playoffs?

I mean I dislike Ohio State as much as the next guy but I’m not about to pretend that Michigan State has a better game/season/bowl than Ohio State simply because we ended the season beating Wake Forest as opposed to losing a heartbreaker of a playoff game to defending national champion Clemson.
