Reggie Wayne - WR - Colts

The Indianapolis Star puts free agent Reggie Wayne's chances of re-signing with the Colts at "less than 50-50."
Even without Peyton Manning's $28 million bonus, the Colts have salary cap issues in their rebuilding process. Dwight Freeney, for instance, will count more than $19 million against the cap in the final year of his contract. Asked late in the season if he might give the Colts a "blue light special," Wayne replied, "I don't shop at Kmart." Expect him to wear a different uniform in 2012.

How much does Wayne have left in the tank?

Vincent Jackson - WR - Chargers

According to the Union-Tribune San Diego's Kevin Acee, the Chargers will "almost certainly" allow free agent Vincent Jackson to hit the open market next month.
Whereas the Chargers acknowledge the necessity of overpaying to keep Eric Weddle last offseason, they reportedly believe this year's wide receiver market is "extremely deep." The Bolts insist they want to be in the V-Jax mix, but they're expected to be outbid "in the first few days of free agency." Jackson will be asking for at least $10 million a year as the top receiver available. Potential suitors include the Rams, 49ers, Redskins, Bucs, Bears, Jaguars, and perhaps the Vikings or Eagles (accompanying a DeSean Jackson trade).

Robert Meachem - WR - Saints The Cincinnati Enquirer suggests Robert Meachem and Mario Manningham as free agent receivers likely to be on the Bengals' radar.
Beat writer Joe Reedy doesn't see free agent Jerome Simpson returning "unless he wants to be the fourth receiver." Meachem and Manningham will draw plenty of interest as second-tier vertical threats for teams that can't afford high-end receivers such as Vincent Jackson or DeSean Jackson.

Peyton Manning - QB - Colts According to Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com, some personnel men around the league still have "serious doubts" that Peyton Manning will ever play again "or at the very least will miss most of next season."
This is hardly breaking news. Manning's future has been debated for months, and there have been skeptics on his ability to regenerate the nerves and NFL-caliber arm strength all along. We won't have a definitive answer until Manning proves it on the field.

Alex Smith - QB - 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh insists that the organization unanimously stands behind free agent Alex Smith as the 49ers' preferred quarterback.
"We're all in lockstep as an organization that Alex Smith is our guy," said Harbaugh. "It's well-documented. You saw the way he played this year. (He is a) tremendous leader on our football team." Harbaugh will officially open the QB job to competition after re-signing Smith, though Colin Kaepernick isn't a serious threat to start Week 1. Don't expect the Niners to chase Peyton Manning, either

Madieu Williams - DB - 49ers The Sacramento Bee only expects the 49ers to re-sign free agent S Madieu Williams "at the right price."
Locking up free agent FS Dashon Goldson is expected to be one of the Niners' top priorities, and Williams proved to be expendable during his age-30 season, making just nine tackles in 15 games. If he's re-signed, it will be on the cheap and as a strict reserve

Josh Morgan - WR - 49ers Impending free agent WR Josh Morgan (broken leg) is expected to be ready for OTAs.
The 49ers are expected to make upgrading their receiver corps a priority, but CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco believes it's more likely than not Morgan will be re-signed. Before going down in Week 5, Morgan had made 15 catches for 220 yards and one score. Ideally, he'd return as the Niners' No. 3 or 4 wideout.

Plaxico Burress - WR - Jets NBC Philadelphia's Howard Eskin reports that free agent Plaxico Burress "badly" wants to sign with the Eagles.
Burress makes more sense for the Eagles this year than last because they've seen what Riley Cooper is (not much) and have a need for improved red-zone offense. Entering his age-35 season, Plax offers little between the twenties, but he can still score touchdowns. He'd likely be a third receiver in Philly

Terrell Owens - WR - Bengals Free agent Terrell Owens insisted Wednesday that he is not retired from the NFL.
T.O. recently joined the IFL's Allen Wranglers as a player and 50-percent owner. "It's a way for myself to keep in shape," said Owens, 38. "I haven't retired from the NFL. I want to play a couple more years." Owens can use his time on the indoor circuit to show teams his surgically repaired knee is healthy. We still have strong doubts that we'll see him in the big leagues again.

Cedric Benson - RB - Bengals Among all backs who played at least half of their team's snaps, free agent Cedric Benson tied for the lowest average in yards after contact.
Benson shared a 2.1 figure with Dexter McCluster and Chris Johnson while also tying Ryan Mathews for the NFL lead with five fumbles. He's not expected back in the Cincinnati, and will likely have to take a prove-it deal on the open market heading into his age-29 season

Cut Dixon sign Benson on a 1 yr "prove it deal"?

Ricky Williams - RB - Ravens Ricky Williams readily acknowledges that his retirement might not be final.
"The easy answer is I've moved on," said Williams, "but the one thing I've learned about myself is, 'Who the hell knows?'" It's hardly rare for a veteran coming off a playoff loss to lean toward retirement only to reverse course in July or August. Williams' retirement may be due in large part to a text from Bill Parcells reading, "Don't chase this thing too long. You can contribute in other ways."

BenJarvus Green-Ellis - RB - Patriots ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss expects the Pats to welcome free agent BenJarvus Green-Ellis back "as long as the economics work."
Green-Ellis won't be a priority after the Pats protected themselves with early-round picks on Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen last offseason. "Lawfirm" is a system back severely lacking in playmaking ability, so it's far from a given that he will land a big money offer from another team.

Robert Mathis - DL - Colts The Indianapolis Star's Mike Chappell expects free agent DE Robert Mathis back with the Colts "even if it's with the franchise tag."
Owner Jim Irsay hinted as much last week after stating that Mathis and Pierre Garcon would be the team's top priorities in free agency. The franchise tag number for defensive ends is projected to be between $10.5 and $11 million.

Dwight Freeney - DL - Colts Former Titans LB Keith Bulluck, a long-time friend of Dwight Freeney, says the veteran Colts star has no intention of converting to outside linebacker in the new coach Chuck Pagano's 3-4 defense.
"Dwight's thinking is, he ain't standing up," Bulluck said. "Dwight's had his hand in the (ground) for 11 years." The Colts can save $14 million of Freeney's more than $19 million against the cap by releasing him, but Freeney doesn't expect that to happen. Keeping the Pro Bowl pass rusher on the roster at that rate would be like decking out a jalopy with a Rolls Royce hood ornament

Mario Williams - LB - Texans CBS Sports' Pete Prisco expects free agent DE/OLB Mario Williams to become the highest paid defensive player in the NFL if he hits the open market.
Williams has the No. 1 overall pick pedigree, the measurables, the age (just turned 27), the versatility, and the production to incite a feeding frenzy once the cap-strapped Texans pass on the franchise tag at $22.9 million. SI.com's Don Banks suggests the Bills, Jags, and Bucs as the top three suitors, with the Packers as a wild card. We've also seen the Chargers and Raiders connected to Williams

Takeo Spikes - LB - Chargers Chargers ILB Takeo Spikes' roster spot is believed to be up in the air this offseason.
Spikes' three-year contract was "essentially a one-year guarantee," according to the Union-Trib. He's due $2.875 million in 2012 after turning 35 in December. Last year's second-rounder, Jonas Mouton, is healthy after missing his rookie season with a shoulder injury

Report: Rehabbing Manning can't throw to left Appearing on Bill Simmons' BS Report, NFL Network's Mike Lombardi said people who are catching Peyton Manning's (neck surgeries) passes as he rehabs say Manning not only lacks velocity, but can't throw to his left.
"He can't throw the ball," said Lombardi. "I've talked to people who've caught the ball for him. He can't throw the ball to his left. He can't throw the ball across his body, because he doesn't feel it. People that catch the ball for him say he doesn't really have velocity on the ball yet." Lombardi is skeptical of any franchise hinging its hopes on Manning. The hope, of course, is that Manning will regain feeling in his arm as the nerve regenerates.

Not being able to throw to your left? WTF lol

Or, they could put all this aside and go after the best, most expensive free agent: DE/OLB Mario Williams, who would make the Niners’ already great defense the best defense of all time.

That sh*t right there.... too much of a dream... can't be getting my hopes up....

Im sure they will resign Goldson or at least tag him. There was a site somewhere or they were saying that R. smith was gonna look for another team. But then again Goldson said that last yr too.
