If Brooks wants $8M/year then I say we let him walk and draft a OLB with our 1st.

Pretty sure he'll never fumble again...

for he will never return one again.

(sorry guys, overdramatic but come on, that fucker fucked us 2x IN THE NFC TITLE gm)

He fumbled the ball 3 times and dove for a punt which he should have not done.

Punt returns, he needs to watch video and improve his football IQ.

I knew it....I knew they were going to pull that sh*t...(Smith over Brooks)... I want Smith as an Every down threat definitely, but I don't want Parys starting.... whose replacing PARYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like nobody. He plays 1st and 2nd down and we get a pass rusher for the 43 downs.

So i guess the Mario Williams sweepstakes will not include the niners judging by the lack of interest.

Hopefully a young new pass rushing OLB is available through the 3rd rd for us.

Brooks is no where close to being worth 8 million. Like was mentioned earlier, put that to Bowmann. Give him an extension now before he communes even more money.

49ers Blog and Q&A: Baalke: NFC Championship game still too painful to watch

Baalke was asked about Michael Crabtree's performance in the playoffs and whether he was satisfied that the team's No. 1 draft pick was indeed a No. 1 receiver. Baalke said it was hard to tell because Crabtree's foot injury caused the receiver to get off to a staggered start this season. Still, he said he liked Crabtree's work ethic, he liked the chemistry he had with Alex Smith and expects big things from Crabtree with a full offseason this year.

"Whether he can define himself as a true No. 1 in the national football league or not remains to be seen but certainly happy with the progress that he made," Baalke said. Still, he said the 49ers definitely were in the market for receivers, whether through the draft or free agency or both.

"Obviously when you have only two guys under contract for next year, it's an area you have to address," Baalke said. "Both Teddy (Ginn) and Josh (Morgan) being unrestricted free agents, that leaves us with two guys under contract. It definitely is an area that needs to be addressed. And whether we address it with our own in re-signing or whether we address it with other free agents that are available or whether we do it through the draft or a combination remains to be seen."

Very glad to read about them wanting more playmakers who can score on big plays. Something we have been lacking big time.

Crabtree's prospects in S.F.

Michael Crabtree | 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to address the wide receiver position to some degree in free agency and the draft. However, no matter who is brought in, former first-round pick Michael Crabtree is expected to play a key role both in 2012 and beyond. Niners GM Trent Baalke bolstered that idea with comments from the NFL scouting combine on Thursday.

"Whether he can define himself as a true No. 1 in the National Football League or not remains to be seen but [we're] certainly happy with the progress that he made," Baalke noted, per Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

Nevertheless, he did confirm that the team will be making additions to the WR corps. "Obviously when you have only two guys under contract for next year, it's an area you have to address," Baalke lamented. "Both Teddy [Ginn] and Josh [Morgan] being unrestricted free agents, that leaves us with two guys under contract. It definitely is an area that needs to be addressed. And whether we address it with our own in re-signing or whether we address it with other free agents that are available or whether we do it through the draft or a combination remains to be seen."

The Niners are not expected to use a high draft pick on the position again (as they did with Crabtree); instead, they'll look for bargains in free agency -- as they did when they had a need at CB last offseason, ultimately signing Carlos Rogers to an organization-friendly, one-year pact.

Gee, that is mind blowing! We don't even have a high pick.
