Venus - Serena:

I always enjoy watching the intros to these matches, just to see the clips of them when they were young.

This was not a good match. Venus was making a lot of wide errors.

Serena won in straight sets.

Djokovic - Kevin Anderson:

Anderson won the first two sets.

Djokovic won the next two.

The match was then suspended.

Djokovic struggled on his serve in the 5th set, when it was resumed the next day. But he ended up winning. Anyone could have won that 5th set.

Serena - Azarenka
:

Azarenka won the 1st set, and the 2nd set was close until midway though the 2nd. Then it was mostly Serena after that, even though Azarenka still fought.

Serena won in 3. She has pretty much clinched the Serena Slam, even though she's only in the SF. She's most likely played her toughest matches, with Heather Watson; Venus; and Azarenka, already defeated by her.

if dementieva had a serve, she would've won at least 1 major

it was painful to watch her serve

toss all over the place, no legs involved in the serve, yeesh. grotesque.

everything else in her game was +
Thanks.

You never know whether you will get Richard Gaquet or Ricky (Blown a ) Gasket. Looks like he is Gasquet today. Dude is immensely talented so its not a surprise fo him to beat anyone easily not named Djokervic.
Gasquet has a great backhand. But there isn't as much special about the rest of his shots IMO.

He can also occasionally have a great finesse touch.

Tomorrow I'll try to watch FED vs. Simon before work (if it's a quick 3 setter).

Then after work, Djokovic-Cilic. If I'm still up for it, Wawrinka-Gasquet.

lots of great matches tomorrow.

simon can drive fed crazy. played fed tough the last couple of times they played.

if roger gets through it comfortably in straights, it'll show some nice form.

Agreed. I think more on the other surfaces then grass though. I expect Fed to pull through. Most likely no more than 4.

Gasquet just got a break in a crazy game. 5-3, serving for the match.

still on serve in the 5th

gasquet is the only one who can keep the top 4 seeds from making the semis at the same time at wimbledon in 20 years.

gasquet did it. good fight from wawrinka on his worst surface.

semis are set:

(2) Federer vs. (3) Murray
(1) Djokovic vs. (21) Gasquet

gasquet was a true prodigy...has always had phenomenal talent, but that big looping windup on the forehand combined with extreme nervousness in tight situations has kept him from the success everybody predicted for him as a kid.

i'm happy for him.

Agreed. Look forward to the matches. I would have been OK with Stan as well. Like the way the matchups ended up. Sometimes they can end up lopsided.

Nole deserved a break after that HELLISH draw in Paris; Rafa in the quarters and Murray in the semis! He's the #1 player in the world; doesn't he deserve a break? I know Nadal got his pigeons from Spain in his half of the draw again and again! lol! :rolleyes2: :noidea:

It does not mean Djokovic is going to have it easy with Gasquet. Nole may eventually win but he would have his hands full.
