I feel safe saying Anderson has never hit this well off the ground before on grass. The lower bounce usually messes him up since he has a harder time getting underneath the ball. He's usually extremely vulnerable if a rally goes more than 3-4 shots, and it's magnified on grass.

The French Open is usually a better surface for the big man because the ball bounces so high, so it's right in his wheelhouse for hitting off the ground.

Today, he was hitting groundstrokes like a top 5 -10 grass player. Not a bad tournament and opponent for it to happen to. :)

I was sad to see Karlovic go out. I hate watching him play tennis, but he's a gentle giant with a speech disability (stammering), and I'm always happy to see him do well.

And quietly, Vika is playing very well to give Serena or anybody she faces from now on super fits. She took out the most promising teen player Belinda Bencic who just won Aegon beating some of the top players. I am looking forward to Vika's match against Serena. As we all know she is the one woman who can take out Serena in any quarter. We shall see.

Serena is struggling mightily. She is down 3-5. Vika to set for the set.

Nole completes his comeback winning after being down 2 sets. No other matchs

Coco loses to Screamapova. Serena loses the first set to Vika and Keys loses the first set to Agga.

Not good for the American women so far.

Vika always plays Serena tough and she is the only one who can take Serena out of this tournament. Serena needs to get her act together and fast.

Serena has looked super disinterested the last few years. SOmetimes I wonder if the talent gap is so wide that she really doesnt go 100% all the time. Maybe injuries?? Just not the old Serena effort. I know shes older so thats a part of it but I dont think thats all of it

Bryan Bothers starting up.

Harrison and Tiafoe are playing in a challenger. The US men are disappearing.

She won the Australian and French Opens. I don't think she is disinterested. She wants it more than ever since she knows she is getting older and the window is closing.

Serena is playing desperate now and the grunts from both of them are getting louder. But the level of play is certainly higher and better.

Im talking more of a match to match basis as opposed to an entire tournament, She is so vastly superior to everyone else Im not sure her winning is a signifier of her enthusiasm. Just a vibe I get watching her now that I didnt used to get. She plays far more close matches now than she really should be playing.

Yep, still dont see the same fire. As I said the talent gap is HUGE so winning isnt really a great indicator IMO. Im honestly not sure how she ever loses. She really shouldnt even be playing that many close matches. She is a vastly superior athlete, far better combination of serving and groundstrokes, very adept at the net. She really only ever plays close because of her, not her opponent. Rare people match up OK with her ( Vila being one of them (

on a match by match basis, she's lost 1 match all year, and won both major titles so far this year.

she's also the dominant #1 player in the world with almost double the points of #2....a 5,000 point lead.

winning isn't a great indicator, so that makes 3 major titles in a row, 1 match lost all year, and a 5,000 point lead over the #2 player in the world all pretty meaningless.

okay, lol.

2nd week of a major brings out a lot of fun commentary.
