Leadership and a lot of home runs. He is a better use of money at that price than a few players that we have had lately.

When you have a lot of cheap home grown talent you can afford to overpay for a few veterans.

Leadership, HRs and he's not a platoon liability. He's basically worth 2 roster spots at that point.

I just don't see Gallo as an elite talent anymore. Haven't been impressed with him in the field or with the bat.

I'm not someone who posts a lot here so I apologize if it's already been discussed (and I'm willing to bet it has), but IMO the Ranger are better off shopping Profar and Gallo as the main pieces for a SP.

JMO though.

Miggy says he would like to stay in Detroit, but wouldn't block a trade.

Ross isn't really comparable to Cashner.

he had that that TOS that harvey also had.

But he was a stud when healthy.

And his heavy GB tendencies work well in a hitter friendly part like yours.

My own personal guess is he's going to the Cubs though. lol

Arlington is pretty neutral since they opened up the area behind home plate. I'm amazed how even the expert analysts haven't caught up to this yet.

Depending on the return I'm not opposed to it.

Talks between the Texas Rangers and free-agent outfielder Ian Desmond have reportedly heated up in recent days, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

rumorcentral_16x9_203x114.png
A source confirmed to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal that the Rangers are indeed in talks with Desmond. The 31-year-old is expected to sign a four-year deal, tweets Morosi, citing "one source with knowledge of [Desmond's] market."

MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports that Rangers officials aren't optimistic anything will get done with Desmond. Sullivan tweets that the Rangers are "in contact with their free agents."

Desmond rejected a $17.2-million qualifying offer from the Rangers in November, opting instead to test the free-agent market. He did the same in the 2015 offseason, signing an $8 million deal with Texas after turning down a $15.8-million qualifying offer from the Washington Nationals.

In 156 games with the Rangers, Desmond slashed .285/.335/.446 with 22 home runs, 86 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. Desmond, who played shortstop for the Nationals, moved to center field in Texas. He was named an All-Star for the second time in his career this year.

With Yoenis Cespedes off the board, Desmond and Dexter Fowler are considered to be at the top of the free-agent market for outfielders. ESPN's Jim Bowden projects

that Desmond will sign a four-year, $62 million deal and lists the Rangers among his best fits.

We'll probably more valuable to Astros than Rangers nut was unimpressed with Beltran postseason and he is not getting any younger. Also that short porch In NY had to help. We need Choo likely at DH.

Have to think part of my response is just haterism but two spots? Come on

Probably not opposed to any player (minus Beltre) given a good return. I think we get a CF and SP as advertised

I'm surprised no one is showing any interest in Gomez. Wanted he ,Ian and Maz in the OF. Probably can't get him and Ian both. If so, then trade for a SP.

Unfortunately, both of these guys values have probably never been lower than they are now.

You don't think Profar's value is a lot higher than this time last year?

for the 2016 season, the Ballpark was 7th overall in HR/game. 4th in AL. So, not exactly "neutral." Calling it "hitter friendly" is a good description.

That's a change from the park effects the last couple of years as I recall.

I'm hoping for an early Xmas present from JD at the winter meetings.

Hope so. The last two winter meetings have been boring as a Ranger fan.

Well we Rangers do need to be entertained. Ha. But take not the first moves are often overpays out of desperation. Sure there are offers on the table for top end pitching that JD is a stare down to see who blinks first.

Seriously though some of JDs nonappeal to some is his lack of being flamboyant. Watched them pick up another bat to fill in the lineup prob play some 1B/DH or COF right at stile end of offseason. Another Desmond type move. Another JD Classic move

JD will likely coast awhile until the Darvish issue is settled. He needs a commitment from Yu imo.
