Nice to see Ranger games if even ST. Yeah the ball carries in AZ. Still some legit HRs. Hoying was a nodoubter. Yeah I think Alberto starts in RR baring injury. Drew R has legit chance to make squad. D Alvarez looked improved

I remember that lots of people didn't like Barnett last year, but his stats were ok. Hoying seems to be doing good, but he showed nothing at the major league level last year. I hope he's improved.

Rangers' Andrew Cashner: No significant findings in doctor visit
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Cashner (biceps) says Dr. Keith Meister didn't find anything significant after evaluating the pitcher's biceps Friday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

This is likely good news for the Rangers, who have shown "little concern" over the injury. Cashner has done some light throwing activity over the past few days, an trend likely to intensify as he works his way back this spring. The 30-year-old is competing for a starting spot with the Rangers after posting a dismal 5.25 ERA in 28 games for the Padres and Marlins last season. Monitor the veteran's recovery status over the next couple weeks.

Rangers' Adrian Beltre: No soreness after first spring game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Beltre (calf) had no additional soreness after playing in his first spring game Friday and is slated to DH on Saturday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The veteran slugger went 0-for-2 in his first Cactus League action of the season, a positive sign of his spring progression. Beltre remains hopeful he can represent the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic and it seems the Rangers will give him ample opportunities to see if he's ready. Although it appears the calf is mostly healed, continue to keep an eye on the situation.

Rangers' Nomar Mazara: Might earn time against lefties
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Mazara's opportunities to face left-handed pitching will hinge on his performance against southpaws in 2017, the Dallas Morning News reports.

After sitting out the Rangers' final 13 games against left-handed starters in 2016, there is reason to be concerned about Mazara's role for the upcoming season. With a platoon expected in left field featuring Jurickson Profar on the large side and Delino DeShields Jr. or Ryan Rua on the small side, the Rangers could feature one of DeShields or Rua as a platoon partner with Mazara in right field if desired. Rangers manager Jeff Banister said he expects Mazara to hit against lefties in the long run, but the short-term plan may hinge entirely on how Mazara fares in those situations in April.

Rangers' Tyson Ross: Feels good after throwing Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ross (shoulder) had no issues Saturday morning after progressing to throwing from a half mound Friday, the Dallas Morning News reports.

The next step for Ross will come Monday when he's scheduled to throw 15-20 pitches, all fastballs, in a bullpen session. Ross is behind the Rangers' other pitchers this spring, and it seems likely that he will begin the season on the disabled list while going through the final stages of his recovery from surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome.
