These latest rumors of a Robinson Cano for Jay Bruce trade sound a whole like the Mariners getting fucked.
Maybe Dr Lorena Hotsy-Totsy Martin was on to something. With Cruz gone and Cano and Segura being openly shopped, it would seem that Dipoto is hellbent on breaking up the Latino leadership on this team.
Too many health risks for a guy who will most likely get a $100+ million contract. No thanks. The fat cats can have him. They can have Eovaldi too. Honestly, I rather get another guy like Mike Leake. He won't dazzle you with talent but he's a lock to take the ball every fifth day. You give Leake a five-year deal and you will get 150-160 starts. You give Eovaldi or Corbin a five-year deal and you will be lucky to get 100 starts.lolol....yeah........hoping he signs in phili.....a deaz for pivetta may blow depotos doors off...lol...im not counting on it though
Report: Corbin visiting Phillies on Tuesday...yeah yeah yeah sign there
Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports that Patrick Corbin is visiting with the Phillies on Tuesday.
According to Salisbury, Corbin is high on the team's wish list after posting a 3.15 ERA and 246/48 K/BB ratio across 200 innings this past season with Arizona. We know that the Phillies have plenty of cash to spend this offseason and they might end up adding a couple of major pieces in order to make a push for 2019. Previous speculation connected Corbin to the Yankees, but the dynamic might have changed after last week's James Paxton deal.

If they are willing to pay the kind of money to deal Cano then I’d rather them put that money towards paying Seager to go to another team.
Issue is despite the money I think Seagar is still harder to trade. He has been straight up awful for 2 years now. Cano at least has shown he can still produce
From what I read, the Phillies want to unload Santana because they want to put Rhys Hoskins at first base. Hoskins was supposedly the worst defensive outfielder in the NL last year. So Cano would not be playing first base for the Phils. He'd play second base where the Phillies already have Cesar Hernandez firmly embedded. So they would need to move Hernandez before they trade for Cano and they can't trade him to us because that would be pretty counter-productive. The whole reason for trading Cano (along with dumping his guaranteed contract) would be to allow Gordon to play second...in the phili deal...they are desperate to off load santana(for a more productive player)...and would look at cano as a 2B/1B type
even cano would be a defensive upgrade...to what they have now...so the prospect would be coming the mariners way
in this one..and i would not eat more than 5 mil for two years==10 mil..(.enough to give to charity...for cano..lol)
Seager, like so many left-handed hitters in today's game, has been unable to adjust to the shift. He is unwilling to sacrifice power for a higher BA (which is basically what it takes to beat the shift). That's what's killed his BA/OPS the last two years. But he is still cranking out as many extra-base hits as he always has. If he went to a team that had a short porch in left field, he could probably hit 30-35 homers a year for the remainder of his contract. But if he stays here, we are going to see more of what we saw last year: 22-28 homers, 75-90 RBI, .225ish BA.Issue is despite the money I think Seagar is still harder to trade. He has been straight up awful for 2 years now. Cano at least has shown he can still produce

Seager to St Louis makes some sense.
Philly is the other spot. Especially if you take Santana to DH.

I'd imagine the Mariners would try to move Dee Gordon as well if they're really trying to shoot for 2021.
