Smyly traded to the Rangers. He left M's to go to Cubs where his old pitching coach was and never got to pitch for him...karma.

Nick Vincent - R - Mariners
Nick Vincent has elected free agency.

Vincent refused an outright assignment by the Mariners and will instead hit the open market. The veteran reliever boasts a 3.17 ERA and has struck out a batter per inning in his career, so he shouldn't have trouble finding a job.

this is ridiculous.....

why does no team like Vincent despite him putting up numbers?

Erasmo Ramirez has elected free agency.

Ramirez posted a 6.50 ERA over 10 starts for the Mariners this season and missed a chunk of time with a shoulder issue. He should have value somewhere as a swingman if he can stay healthy.

as is this

the mariners ..would seem to have a chance..at #8 eavaldi...and he would work prob the best...but boston seems to have the in..on him..but the money they would seem to be able to afford would be that

unless by the contract the first year was lower then they could maybe go keuchel..it is true...by this article

corbin may go higher than keuchel...but the mariners seem to need a RHp

right now they have knocked off what cruz and span=24 ramirez and vincent=4.2and 2.75=31mil

but really it is still all good
they have a chance to.....maybe to get a #2 starting pitcher....a CF guy..and a utility guy
if they keep gordan...they still need a seager platoon...toronto and solarte is the best one i can think of...but they would prob want a combo DH...solarte maay be able to do that..as an. .......as well
and would prob be the #3 guy on the DH list

or resign cruz

Chris Herrmann - C - Astros
Astros claimed C/INF/OF Chris Herrmann off waivers from the Mariners.

Herrmann is a career .205/.282/.351 hitter over parts of seven big league seasons, but he offers intriguing versatility with the ability to play catcher, first base and all three outfield spots. He'll try to win a bench job with Houston in 2019.

maybe they will add decarlo...C.......from AA..2nd round mariners...2012

well that is minus three guy's on the 40..should be 33

i was checking out san diego and thought a seager for meyers trade may be ok...lol

which would give san diego seager to go with villanueva...not a bad platoon...for them
then meyers a R/R..can play 1B/3B/of..so solve a few prob's there..lolololo

but as far as money and ability goes...myers gets paid

2018: $2 million, 2019: $3 million, 2020: $20 million, 2021: $20 million, 2022: $20 million, 2023: $20 million club option ($1 million buyout)

that is ok for next year but the year after is..ahhh...... whaaaaaaaaaat

i dont really know how good a defencive guy he is...but he is only 27 yo..he will be 31 in 22

yeah throw franchy in there and i would do it...lol

but it would save the mariners 15 mil this next year.lol

But in that same article, Cotterill points out that Herrmann had been given very little playing time in comparison to fellow backup David Freitas down the stretch. Herrmann and Freitas ended the season with a similar number of plate appearances (86 for Herrmann vs. just over 100 for Freitas), although Herrmann was more productive in his time, earning .6 fWAR and hitting a memorable walk-off home run. Herrmann was also a personal favorite of staff writer and OBP fan Zach Gottschalk, who appreciated Herrmann’s ability to take a walk (11.5% BB rate) on a contact-focused team that didn’t work too many of them.

To add insult to injury, Herrmann was claimed by the Houston Astros, whose lone weakness is at the catching position. Veterans Brian McCann and Martin Maldonado are both free agents next year. Max Stassi posted a 1.2 fWAR in 250 plate appearances, but the defense-first catcher was left off the playoff roster. I’d expect the Astros to upgrade the position more sharply than Herrmann, who is thrilled to be claimed by his hometown team, but in the meantime, the Marinersjust took a hit at a position that’s thin across the organization.

Mariners play long game, place good-hitting catcher on waivers for division rival to claim
