It all depends on the rate and term. There are a ton of UFA's coming off the books next season in PIT. Martin could be worked around that if they felt it was worth taking him on.

the market price was driven WAYYY up with the gonchar deal, and the feeds i'm following (twitter insiders) are saying he's in bidding war. LA and MINN apparently?

They'll make some signings but probably won't overpay. I think Volch and Hammy are being given offers. I don't think the Canucks are one of the teams offering 7m to Hammy, though. 1 significant D signing, 1 or 2 of the significant forwards out there, trade Bieksa, fill in holes with kids who should be ready, should be ok.
