Am probably putting this up here way after you all have talked about it ... but Richard Justice's piece on Colby posted on the TEX site yesterday was outstanding.

Richard Justice: Colby Lewis leads by example, and Rangers love him for it | texasrangers.com: News

Coming on the heels of Kinsler's demonstration of immaturity ... Colby comes across not only as a team leader but one that has a very special relationship with and respect from the front office. Not sure all the platitudes = a roster spot but you can't help but root for him to retake his spot in the rotation.

When you look at TEX pitching corps ... lots of these kind of special stories ... Lewis -- Cotts -- Harrison -- Holland -- Perez -- Ogando -- Kirkman -- Soria -- Feliz probably others too I missed. Some very striking personal stories of guys who just will not quit despite significant injuries or other failing. Colby's fight has been the longest and the one we feel the most for.

People are actually buying Russell Wilson Rangers jerseys/ jersey shirts? Apparently it's a hot seller, like top 5 MLB wide.

What happens if he and Tepesch are the two hottest pitchers coming out of ST? Would make things interesting.

Kirkman would start the season in the majors and Tepesch goes to AAA. It's the pitching equivalent of E. Beltre/Choice situation.

Moreland looks thinner and he's changed his stance up.

When he came up in 2010 he didn't have much success against LHP ... not unusual for a young LH bat ... but I thought his simple, short, compact swing gave him excellent basis to adjust. I remember at the time how different his swing was from CD or Smoak ... and even though Moreland wasn't tearing things up ... he was hitting better than either of the guys ahead of him at 1b.

Is it just me or does Martin watch more pitches come right down the middle for strikes early in the count?

Makes me think of Juan Gonzalez. That guy was not going to swing at the first pitch no matter how much of a meatball it was.

My sense is that Martin isn't confident about what umpires call as balls and strikes.

That's how I see it as well. He turns out of the way of fastballs down the middle at times.

Santana is now looking for a 1 year deal, and wants to get in camp as soon as possible. Who would want to give up a pick for a 1 year deal?

Although a small sample, I watched Santana pitch one hell of a game vs Yu last year at BPiA only to have the BP lose it for him on a HR by Juri Pro

He had a great year and has been good 3 of the last 4. I was one of the only ones that wanted to sign him, but not on a 1 year deal while giving up a pick.

Yeah giving up a pick for a one year deal doesn't sound good to me. Early in his career he would follow up a good season with an egg but he seems to have limited that to one egg the last four years. Not sure for a full season if the "globe" would be his best opportunity to put up great numbers but JD knows better than I
