I wonder if a player can do that. I read that his contract says he has to provide 8 teams he won't okay a move to, but what if he can't come up with 8?

That would just be unfair.

But God Damn would I love to see Chris get a shot at a cup.

I'd like to see him get a shot at a Cup too.

I'd also like to see some of the Sens younger guys take his minutes. He's been pretty bad this year. Part of the problem is that he's being played in a top 4 role. He's just not that kind of player anymore.

Hearing the Sabres are listening to offers on Tyler Myers as well - Everybody loves a reclamation project.

So Marty has wanted to come here since 2009.

Brian Lawton was the GM of the Tampa Bay Lightning for two seasons, 2008-09 and 2009-10.
Lawton is now an analyst for Sportsnet in Canada and indicated that Martin St. Louis asked him for a trade to the Rangers in 2009.
Today on Hockey Central at Noon, Lawton said that Martin St. Louis requested a trade to the Rangers in 2009.
Lawton said, “I can tell you that when I was in Tampa in 2009 right before the trade deadline where Marty was waiting in my office for me and he came in and said that he wasn’t happy and wanted to be traded and wanted to be traded to one team which was the New York Rangers. So when I heard this, it’s a little bit deja vu.”

12:37PM: The Penguins reportedly inquired about Kesler and included Brandon Sutter and prospect Derek Pouliot as part of a package. (Rob Rossi)

Sutter? Really.

meh ... if Marty wanted out so bad why did he re-sign with the Bolts when he was UFA In July 2010 :L

Lawton just wants people to look at him me thinks

Probably couldn't fit it under the cap. I still think he gets traded here, rumors this morning were swirling of a 3-team deal between us the Lightning and Blues.

I got that wrong Marty re-signed with Tbay on the first day he was eligible to sign an extension July 1 2010 ... he still had 1 more year on the existing deal and committed to 4 additional years with TBay

even if RAGS were in a cap crunch at that time ... why does he sign a 4 year deal and anot a 1 or 2 year deal ???

When's the last time there was a three team trade in the NHL? I sincerely can't recall one in recent time.

If true, I for one am glad it didn't happen. Kesler is 29, and oft injured. Sutter is 25, and fairly inexpensive as a RFA in 2014-15. Kesler would be an obvious upgrade over Sutter, but who are they going to surround him with?

Plus, with guys like Orpik, Niskanen and Engelland likely not to be brought back next season, Pouliot has a real chance of making this squad out of camp as the 7th dman. He had an outside shot of making it, this season. That would give the Pens two young and inexpensive blueliner's (Maatta) with years of control. I'm not a fan of giving up on that opportunity. Cap space is only going to get more difficult for the Pens next year, and two defensemen at 900k or less is a great way of managing a tough cap.
