Kesler is the better player, so I suppose the Canucks should get something else in return - if it wasn't for Torts being the coach in Vancouver, I would have probably had Zuccarello going to VAN with Callahan

I'm just throwing stuff on the wall and seeing if it sticks

So another case of going through the hoops of getting a guy to waive his ntc only to trade him for a pending ufa

:L

Adding to that, callahan is asking for 2 mill more per season and isnt as good as kesler

Yah

Seems legit. :L

If I'm the Flyers I would stay put - I know they've always loved Kesler but right now they need to save some cap space - they're going to have at least 12 million or so in cap space this offseason - Kimmo/Mesz/Steve Downie are all FA's and Claude Giroux's big contract kicks in so the Flyers need to start looking at inserting a few younger guys with cheaper contracts - the Flyers have a nice future up the middle with G/Couts/Schenner/Laughts + the Flyers should be focusing on defense

@adater
Ryan Kesler has NOT requested a trade, his agent Kurt Overhardt tells me. Says reports saying so are "BS"

@HarrisonMooney
I’ll take Louis Jean’s word over Kurt Overhardt. 100 times out of 100.

and I'd almost take Eklund's word over Datertard.

@botchford: GMMG: If he did want out or he didn't want out I wouldn't discuss it publicly. I'm not going to debate whether the report is accurate or not

Also, I tend to think if Marty is holding strong to only NYR that he doesn't move. Stevie Y would be handcuffed if that was the case, and they really have limited reason to trade him. I dunno, maybe it's because they're in third place in the east and five points up on the bottom wild card team, and the idea of trading your captain (who has another year on their contract) and likely not getting a player of the same caliber back, because said captain will only go to one team, with only just over a month left in the season just seems insane. Of course similar things could be said about Callahan, but that's more of a way of not losing out on him walking away. Just sounds crazy.

I agree - so many things are being said that I just don't see this happening - and Stevie Y would be an idiot if he traded Marty for less than market value just so he could get him out

I don't think I've seen so many of these players wanting out ever in a single NHL season - and they're all really good players too
