Here's what I believe they're doing since the original group fared as well as they did.
A player by player evaluation with the goal being to find a guy, as necessary, to replace/upgrade the previous one. Since there are more free agents than they have draft picks, Fowler's cost and associated years on a new contract became problematic. So with respect to Fowler, I believe that they think they've gotten a better return on investment. We will see!!
Im under the impression they didn't even offer him a deal. There's reason to believe they could hit on edge in picks 1-4.
