Length of suspension for Rick Rypien

I'm going 20-40 games myself, I think Bettman is going to throw the book at him.

My guess is ten. He's easy to suspend - the league won't miss him, the Nucks won't miss him. Pierre LeBrun brought up that Torts got suspended for a game in the playoffs for throwing a water bottle at a fan, and one playoff game equals five regular season games.

Anybody know what kind of punishment the Boston Bruins got in the 70s when they jumped into the stands at MSG and started pummeling fans? Very different era.

I think 20-40 as well. Going after a fan is inexcusable. Hopefully Campbell has some sense this time.

I just rewatched that incident. WOW I didnt even realize the guy was just taunting and not leaning over or anything. I thought I saw it differently last night. Jesus that was bad. 20 games minimum.

Talk about 30 seconds that Rypien would like to get back from Tuesday night:

1. At the end of a skirmish with Wild tough guy Brad Staubitz, Rypien gets in a late punch at a defenseless Staubitz, who is being held by a linesman. The punch doesn't look too powerful, but given the next sequence of events, not a good start.

2. Rypien seems to push or shove linesman Don Henderson near the Canucks' bench before Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault comes over to intervene and get Rypien off the ice.

3. Poor old Vigneault, who was trying to do the right thing. Next thing you know, Rypien jumps at a Wild fan who was cheering his exit.

I think just as dumb as Rypien's actions is the fact that there's no glass separating the fans and the opposing team's bench. Give him 10 games and put some glass in there.

They do have the cover that gets rolled out at the end of periods...Good thing 3MEPN wasn't there.

I could be wrong but there was no visible security/ushers

/there was one guy in a red jacket standing there but he backed away as Rypien walked towards the tunnel ... maybe he thought he was gonna get one in the mush

the tunnel should have been pulled to avoid that. that's why they have those tunnels in every single building.
