I voted 6-10. I don't care what the fan said players simply shouldn't do what he did. I'm sure this is something the league talks about with players before the season begins. If not it should be.

Suspended indefinitely pending hearing (min 5 game suspension)

Canucks' Rypien suspended indefinitely pending hearing

Rypien will not be in the lineup Wednesday night as the Canucks face the Minnesota Wild on TSN.

it's on their own fucking network, and they can't get the game right?
(they play Chicago tonight)

not thrilled with the apparent +5 ruling, but I can see that they want to 'send a message' despite the precedents that the league has itself set.
meanwhile, those minnesota clowns got moved to front row seats in the corner

Based on Sean Avery getting "indefinitely" and "anger management" for stating a fact about his ex girlfriends, it must be at least 40....but predicting this is like predicting the reaction of a woman to dirty talk when she is on the rag....

I voted 11-19 for ripper. That was a real POS move, and I have zero remorse for the subsequent reaction to his stupidity. He'll get what he deserves, it sounds like.

I don't want to see anything that even remotely reminds me of the NBA (melee at the palace) in the greatest sport on earth.

Lmao, my ex was fucking horrible. One good thing about being single, now I only have to see them when they're not on the rag.

I put 11-19...while I think he certainly deserves that, anything more is excessive for the 'attack' he caused. Really it seemed like the fans were just there. at another teams arena trash talk is always happening. You HAVE to block that out...a fan has the right to be fan, they weren't leaning over or up in his face, they seriously just looked towards him and were clapping. Sure, something could've been said, but that doesn't warrant an 'attack'. I use that term loosely because really he just shoved him and ran away. To be honest when I first heard this I was automatically on Rypien's side because fans can be dicks, but these guys weren't all up in his face...just standing and clapping away.

From what I saw, the fan was just standing there clapping. What a complete act of undisciplined insolence. No wonder why Rypien lost his mind. He was in a visiting arena, and their fans had the gall to clap?! In my humble opinion, we should be talking about said fan's punishment. Ripper's actions were wholeheartedly understandable.

i heard it explained early this morn on the radio that the reporter asked malhotra his thoughts post game before he saw the video and was unaware Ripper instigated it ... what he saw when he came on the scene to play peacemaker was guy#2 in the red jersey challenging Rypien and then him to a fight

Actually, the fan did say something and I think I understand why Rypien was upset. The words he uttered were:

"Way to be a professional"

If they can give Doan 3 games for doing nothing wrong, I hope they give Rypien at least 20 games.

Still feel bad for the fan. Apparently his brother did an interview and the only thing that his bro said was 'way to go tough guy' in a sarcastic tone. Or something along those lines as he clapped. Nothing bad was said. When they both got moved to front row seats the camera panned in on them and the one guy who got pushed was still really upset and shaking his head. Looked like he wanted to go Rypien on someone. Couldn't enjoy the game after that obviously. Can't blame him.

Uh oh, looks like the Wild fan is getting ready to be "lawyerball'

James Engquist: "I was assaulted, that?s just the bottom line" | StarTribune.com

Don't think he would have contemplated suing if after the game both teams or even just the Canucks had said they were sorry and invited both guys to the locker room. Since no one has stepped up and even apologized he's probably thinking well fuck this I'm going to sue. I know he probably wants some quick cash, but at the same time can you blame him if he didn't even get invited to the locker rooms or get an autograph? You gotta give him something out of this. He really did nothing wrong.

Nobody says "Way to be a professional" and gets away with it. He's lucky the Ripper didn't pull him into his world.
