jets, 9ers, houston, bears, jaguars or cardinals ?

What doesn't make sense is that they were willing to give up the draft picks for Grap.

I have a bad feeling Bruce and Dan are going to royally F things up and not sign him to a long term deal or trade him for multiple picks and we will lose him next season and receive a garbage 3rd round pick

its not in anybodies interest (player or team) to show their hand

but with Cousins signing his tag the ball is in our court ... he doesnt have a voice in the matter

Of course they will. That is why I am laughing at the poster here that are looking to the draft to save the franchise. Who is going to be making the pick? Bruce, Dan...Gruden...nobody knows. Bruce is probably going to make the pick and screw it up. What has he shown that proves otherwise?

He has botched SM tenure here, he has botched the Cousins situation and he is botching the FA period. There is simply no reason Cousins should not be signed to a LTD by now. IF he is our guy which logic tells you he is, you find a way to get the freaking deal done.

Maybe they have realized that while moving forward without Cousins might be exciting from a fantasy draft point, Doing it at this time likely will set the team back more than the bazillion draft picks might improve us. Could be they have decided a one year bridge at a high level and drafting his replacement is better than a lesser bridge at QB in a Colt McCoy.

Or maybe, just maybe they have figured out Kirk should be the long term solution and are just trying to come to grips with just how much he is going to cost.

Apparently the cost to get Grap was 2 #1's and 2 #2's. If this is true I would be curious to see what Cle offers. They are clueless so if we get a 4 or 5 picks I would laugh my ass off.

They're FO is smarter than ours. I wouldn't count on it.

Here is another spin

Supposed the Redskins front office is pumping out the Browns trade rumor to try and leverage Kirk into backing down a bit on his LTD numbers. Because while Kirk could refuse to show for the Browns and void the trade, that would seriously damage his credibility as a good guy willing to keep his options open. Lets face it, the redskins have about as much real leverage in this thing as an anorexic playing seesaw with an over weight Sumo. Threaten to trade him to the Browns knowing that to force his way out of the trade paints hum in the bad light might be one of Washington's few hole cards in this game of poker.

Since Bruce is apparently running things and I have less than zero confidence in his ability to tie his shoes properly, I believe that any deal that he makes with Cleveland would look something like this:

They get Cousins our #17 and our #1 next year.

We get Osweiller and a fifth for Bruce this year:D

i considered this move ... but believe this would be a failed gambit.

Cousins would just have to stay healthy for the season & could then be out on the open market.

Threatening him is not going to be conducive to coming to terms on a long term deal.

I dont know man... the prospect of being banished to Cleveland is a powerful threat. I mean if he went there and the Browns acme out and publicly made him an offer you cant refuse, it paints him into a box. He cant come out and say I dont want to be in Cleveland after repeatedly saying I want to keep an open mind and want a fair deal.

I dont know man...

I only see two options

try and get a bidding war going between any & everybody

& then ship him off in the middle of the night to Siberia in exchange for multiple first round picks.

We should get more for a proven commodity in Cousins then what we gave up for Griffen.

OR

overpay him & get him to commit to a long term deal ... & hope 5 years from now looking back on it the contract does not look that bad

if we threaten him ... & he calls our bluff ... then what ?

Mark this moment down..... After reading all of these stories here and various other Cleveland based reports I am convinced more than ever that Kirk gets signed here.

That said, I'm not 100% sure so, If there is a trade involving Kirk, there will be one other player involved, lots of draft picks and three teams involved in it. Mark it down, Ya heard it from me first!
