Profootballtalk reports there's a "growing belief" in league circles the Browns could pursue Redskins franchise player Kirk Cousins.

Per a league source, Cousins' concern upon signing the franchise tag was that he could be traded, "specifically" to Cleveland. The Browns have the cap space, draft picks and need to pursue a deal. Were Cousins to be acquired without a long-term contract already in tow, the sides would have until July 15 to come to an agreement. Although he's tried to tamp down the speculation in recent days, Cousins appears bitterly unhappy in Washington.

Apparently the cost to get Grap was 2 #1's and 2 #2's. If this is true I would be curious to see what Cle offers. They are clueless so if we get a 4 or 5 picks I would laugh my ass off.

LOL. Florio has no ethics whatsoever. Did you freaking read the interview w/ Cousins? Did he appear to be "bitterly unhappy"? LOL - quite the opposite. He appears to be someone who is relaxed and happy knowing that he will get big $$ and get to run a team either in DC or elsewhere & he doesn't seem to care too much.

What exactly does "league circles" mean? I am not downplaying sources or unnamed sources as others have cited elsewhere in this forum. Just stating that this is idle speculation, and I have a hard time believing that Cousins will be willing to sign a long term deal in CLE. However - you are just going nuts in your hopes of getting rid of Cousins - you must really hate the guy.

Again - if this franchise dumps Cousins then they might lose what little appeal they have to a large amt of this fanbase. Who cares if you pickup a Pryor if you don't have a decent QB to throw him the ball. We will see.

Hey man, dont KIll Deans high. The minute some one officially started a Cousins to Cleveland rumor, he updated his big board to show the Redskins getting Myles Garrett with the #1 over all, Jonathan Allen with the #12, and some one else with the #17.... after all if we fleece the Brown and add all that talent.. who cares whats at QB right??

Question for you. Cle offers #12 and 2nd rounder this year. 1st rounder and 2nd rounder in 2018. Do you turn that down?

Reports are that the Browns are offering their four 1sts, three No. 2s and will pay Trent Williams salary for the next two years in an effort to acquire Kirk Cousins.

The problem is Cousins holds all the cards. If the Browns trade for him and he refuses to sign a long term deal because Cleveland is the graveyard of QBs they can't afford to franchise him. You can't keep franchising a QB because the cost escalation is too high.

Although if the relationship in Washington is beyond repair I like the Redskins idea of trading him to Cleveland.....kinda the last laugh.

You almost can't. Cousins has gone on record saying, the owner, and president want him here.
The GM has been fired. Despite how good it looks, you may never land quality players and staff here again.
The one exception for me would be if Cleveland offered #1 #12 #33 for Cousins. If they are going to get my best player, I am -- in turn going to take their best assets. Essentially three 1st round picks for my QB is fair.

Why would any team take it up the ass for a QB you have deemed is NOT a franchise QB should be the question you are asking??

lol, I saw of LOT of Browns games last year, and they did well against division opponents.
They simply had epic meltdowns in the 4th, picture them with an above average QB and an improved defense.....
...hope Tribusky works out...LOL

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns "aren't expected" to make a run at Redskins franchise player Kirk Cousins, but that three other teams have in the past 10 days and were "immediately turned down."

Profootballtalk reported Tuesday there's a "growing belief" in league circles Cleveland will make a play for Washington's disgruntled quarterback. Beat writer Mary Kay Cabot reports it's unlikely because of both the draft pick compensation and contract the rebuilding Browns would have to shell out. It's still not a categorical denial. The Redskins have adopted a "This Is Fine." public posture with their quarterback, but the rest of the league isn't buying it.
