I believe Howson will be gone out of C-Bus before Nash will.

I'm not even sure why he's still around. They aren't in a recurring 'rebuild' because of success. This would have been the perfect time to make a change. They just had the #2 overall pick, a captain that may or may not want to go, and got completely worked over in the Jeff Carter mess.

Seriously how does this guy still have a job? It's been stated before, but how are you as bad as the Blue Jackets have been for the past decade and not have the young talent to show for it? How many lottery picks can you blow before ownership steps in and says to get lost?

We don't know yet. Still counting...

It's a shame that they never really had a chance to be relevant. I can tell you that the Columbus fan base is there, they just don't have a reason to show up anymore. I don't blame them.

^This. Remember the sellout streak they had for several years when they first arrived there? I got to see a game in Columbus and it was a fun time. Definitely good fans in Columbus that deserve better.

Howson HAS to go. If they traded Rick Nash for a 6th round pick and Howson leaving, that would be a net plus. The guy is a total clown.

From your keyboard to God's ears.

He still has a job because the Jackets are run like a division of Worthington Steel, the owner's company. They appointed an MBA as president of hockey operations and he simply doesn't understand what he is doing and subsequently doesn't understand what Howson isn't.

Hiring good, hardcore hockey guys like Craig Patrick and the still rumored hiring of John Davidson, not to mention mixing up a lot of things with the scouting department (Which was apparently judged only by how effective they were at getting expense reports in on time) tells me that somewhere within the organization the "request" of Nash was a wakeup call.

Howson isn't asking for so much because he thinks he can get it, he is asking for so much because he wants to not look like a buffoon for actually trading Nash.

How Hitchcock getting the Adams wasn't the final nail in Howson's coffin, I will never understand. Fucking Jackets paid Hitch to coach another team into the playoffs, for Christ's sake.
