On Deshaun Watson

To Brian: I wonder if the Browns ownership and front office are feeling buyer's remorse with Deshaun Watson. In their excitement, did they forget to think of the consequences of suspension? Can they stuff their pride and admit their mistake to fans and primarily, to Baker Mayfield? The NFL is not going to ignore the screams of the public vs. the Texas court's ruling on Watson's case. It would be a huge tear and even bigger scar.
The best solution would be to try to trade Watson in a multi-player deal, bite the bullet and move on. Because even if the Browns miss the playoffs, they can start over at season's end. They should be wiser by then, despite any and all feelings of embarrassment. Letting this eyesore linger is detrimental. It must be dealt with soon.

Larry Cheek, Dublin

To Larry: Trading Watson would be quite complicated, and comical. First, what team, besides the Browns, would take on such a headache? And if they found a buyer, the Browns would still get stuck for much of the $230 million they guaranteed Watson. Yes, it's another Browns mess.

Think a better answer might have been.....To Larry: Yes, no doubt it's true things might look really bad for the Browns here, especially if Baker plays well and Watson gets suspended and/or does not play well.

Maybe at least wait, however, and see what, if any, suspension he receives before deciding how to move forward? Then maybe see how the guy and team plays when he does get on the field?

If Apple settles, they aren't suing afterward.

The Depp/Heard case is a very bad example as there was never a settlement.

How do you know? You can counter sue for anything

Wrong again, they had confidentiality agreements from these very issues in a settlement in 2016 and Depp still brought and won his defamation case lol

You might want to learn what a Settlement means.

With Depp, Heard they didn't settle, they had both cases being heard at the same time.

"In the agreement, Depp and Heard promised not to make any “derogatory, disparaging, critical or accusatory statements, either directly or indirectly, express or implied” about each other."

Would you say any of this happened in the recent court case?

Again Depp and Heard never agreed to any settlement before they went to court.

I swear a wall understands more about this than you do.

Are you trying to claim they didn't agree to this agreement which they agreed to? lol

The settlement where Depp paid Heard 7 million. Are you claiming that didn't happen either?

"Heard arguably violated that provision when she published her Dec. 18, 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post. Though she did not mention Depp by name, she clearly alluded to her past allegations of domestic violence, and said she had “felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.”

Depp is now suing Heard over that column. But he is not suing her for breaching the settlement agreement. Instead, he is suing for defamation, which requires him not only to prove that Heard disparaged him, but also that she fabricated her allegations. That is a much higher bar, and several legal experts have expressed doubt that he will be able to clear it."

That was what the lawsuit was over that he just won lol

Don't bother responding with something retarded again

OK,I'll admit I had no idea about that settlement, and quite honestly aside from seeing both Depp and Heard look like assholes in the trial, if Heard hadn't violated that settlement there would have been no trial. Also Depp didn’t even sue over a settlement violation, he sued for
defamation.

So unless one of Watsons accusers voilate their settlement he has no grounds to sue.

Again go read up on settlements. They're biding legal agreements.

Just announce the damn suspension. How much more time will it take what's her name (Robinson?) to make a decision?

This topic needs to end so the next topic can start. The length of Mr. Scumbag's suspension. No matter the length it's gonna be an interest topic. Maybe.

Rizzo has been on Cleveland radio (and been a sports news guy) for years here. Not sure he has any inside info the others don't who have said no suspension, 6-8 games, a year+, etc.

Clearly some (many?) will end up having bad intel as been all over the place on how this will play out.

Hopefully we know soon.

Have to love all these reports from people with sources who say they know how long the suspension will be. Like the judge stops reading the briefs to tell someone who will then tell Rappaport (or Rizzo) what she is thinking so far?

We could discuss the long-term psychological trauma that he will endure after getting away with a slap on the wrist, if he gets 4-6 weeks.
