It won’t be first ballot and it may take a long time, but I think an argument can be made for him to be considered one of the top 10 starters of his generation of pitchers.

Much better pitcher than Morris, though there's a lot of pitchers that compare favorably to Morris.

This Braves offense is fucking awesome!! Dangerous hitting from top to bottom. If the pitching holds up (the bullpen in particular is a concern), the Braves are clearly the World Series favorites. I have my hopes up for another World Series title for the Braves.

I know the playoffs are random but my goodness the Braves look like the champs today

The only thing that gives me hope is that the regular season’s best team usually doesn’t win the World Series and that’s become especially true as playoffs have been expanded.

I think that the best regular season team last year did win the World Series in the Astros, I thought they were the best team throughout all of 2022. But yeah you never know what will happen in the playoffs.

Yep. I’m a Phillies fan. The Dodgers had the best record in baseball last year, not the Astros. Dodgers won 111 games.

Fair enough, I personally thought the Astros were better than the Dodgers all season, I thought the Astros had a more complete team, maybe it’s just I don’t trust the Dodgers in the playoffs.
The Braves are clearly the best team in MLB this year IMO, and I am really hoping for a World Series title.

Since June 1st the Phillies are 39-20, good for the 2nd best record in baseball in that time. Yet they’ve actually lost ground in the division because the best team since June 1st has been the Braves. Phil’s are 2-4 vs the Braves this year but they have 7 games left with the Braves in September.

I don’t think the Braves can be caught. I did math before yesterday’s games. Phil’s had 46 games left and Braves had 49 games left. Phil’s needed to go 31-15 which would be playing tremendous baseball while the Braves would need to go 22-27 in their remaining games. That’s impossible. Even if the Braves scuttle a bit that likely looks more like 27-22 down the stretch and nowhere near as bad as 22-27.

Agree on them being this year’s best team. Your perspective on the Astros was fair and very defensible. I was just referencing “best” as best record when I said that since playoffs have been expanded to wildcards that the best team hasn’t really closed the deal as often as one would think.

I agree, the Braves have looked like the best team over the last couple months. Definitely the best offense. But for the record, 8 of those 21 runs came against the Mets shortstop.

Bravos swept the Yankees!! This Braves team is extremely fun to watch, great hitting, and their pitching held the Yankees to a total of 3 runs in the 3 games series. Nicky Lopez has done a decent job filling in for the injured Ozzie Albies.

Yep. I’ve now tempered my expectations. A “good” Nola start is when there’s nobody on when he gives up his 2 to 3 HRs each game.

Phils just gotta get their rotation behind Wheeler figured out with some consistency. Cause that offense is going to contend in October.

But they gotta get on a hot streak with the arms to beat ATL and LAD.
