Breaking news.

Scherzer is back.

Boy its a big if for deGrom especially. But having those two guys back down the stretch is freightening.

Yeah, Mets gonna be a real problem down the stretch.

Should look to add a power bat at the deadline though.

Fingers crossed Jake is back to being Jake when he returns.

Still need a bat, JD Davis is not getting it done as DH. Also need another bullpen arm. Assuming starters are healthy Peterson and Megill probably go to the bullpen so that's a bump.

10 minutes away from the return of Jacob deGrom. Game is free on MLB-TV as well as being televised on MLB Network.

deGrom pitches well and the offense is completely invisible. The world is truly back to normal.

Dude was pumping out 101 mph heaters and 95 mph sliders

Big IF, but if he finishes the season actively pitching. Him and Scherzer are going to go toe to toe with any team in the NL

And it's not like the rest of the rotation consists of scrubs either, Bassitt/Walker/Carrasco have been very solid (though Taijuan is outpitching his peripherals). They just optioned Peterson (3.54 ERA, 3.48 xFIP, 3.91 xERA) to make room for deGrom.

You know for all the Mets failures and faults as a franchise our radio and TV announcers are as good as it gets. This right here is absolute dog shit:

Mets promoted Baty.

Braves also locked up Michael Harris to 8 years/$72M.

Yep, relievers are a crapshoot. Red Sox traded for Carson Smith coming off a sparkling 2015 season (2.31 ERA) and he threw 23.2 innings over the next three seasons before retiring. They also traded for Tyler Thornburg coming off a 2.15 ERA in 2016 and he's had a 5.37 ERA in 68.2 innings over the last six seasons.

They are on a mission. Also in extension talks with Mr. contract year Dansby Swanson.

Too bad they are stuck with the Marcell Ozuna headache a few more years.

Absolutely. Yates was THE best relief pitcher in baseball in 2019 though. Has anyone ever been the best reliever in his final full/partial season? (if Yates’ comeback is unsuccessful it may not be enough of a body of work to be considered a partial season)

Kenley Jansen is the active career leader in games appeared in by a pitcher. 3 guys were ahead of him to start the year and they have all since been released.

I wonder if he will retire at the end of the season due to the introduction of the pitch clock, he seems a most likely candidate to eschew time constraints.
