let it snow let it snow let it snow lol:suds:

Friday's game between the Mets and Rockies has been postponed due to inclement weather.

They're expecting a snowstorm in the Denver area. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, assuming the bad weather clears out by then. Scheduled starter Carlos Carrasco and German Marquez will be pushed back a day.

I don't see how firing Girardi helps. Castellanos/Hoskins have been underperforming and their pitching has been pretty mediocre, not to mention they're historically bad defensively. And now they're without Segura.

Should the Mets go after Joe Giaradi? I think that would be great in my opinion. I’d love him back in the ny market and I think he could bring Mets to the next level

Nola has a 3.92 ERA, which is rather high for someone with a 0.93 WHIP. It's not like he's giving up a ton of homers either.

yeah I heard some announcer the other day talking about how every front office is now looking at all these advanced metrics and stats but when it comes down to arbitration or contract negotiations they have no problem going back to the old school stats to gain bargaining power. And by the same token, player agents will bring up batting average and RBI if it benefits them.
But this early in the year in Nola's case the ERA is probably just variance. Or he made a couple mistakes with guys on base. He pitches in a lot of "hitters parks" so he's gonna give up some HRs but you have to try to make them solo shots.

yeah, it's just weird. And it's not like he has some abnormally low LOB%, either (72.4%)

Alcantara is on an absolute bender of dominance.

Not buying into the new age of only going 5-6 innings.

Breaking news.

Scherzer is back.

Boy its a big if for deGrom especially. But having those two guys back down the stretch is freightening.

Mets kept themselves afloat without them going 25-16 without him. They've lost some ground, but that has more to do with Atlanta being very hot than the Mets struggling.

.500 ball from here on out gets them to 91 wins. Their schedule looks relatively soft, though they still have 15 games with Atlanta remaining.

My midseason thoughts on the Mets:

Considering no deGrom and Scherzer being out for 40+ games I have to be thrilled that we're in first place and 20 games over on July 7th.

Still need another bat in this lineup. There's 3 guys that produce with any sort of consistency and everyone else has been dogging it. The DH spot is prime for an upgrade. Maybe Francisco Alvarez can be that guy but that's a lot of pressure to put on a young guy.

Our bullpen is still our achilles heel. It's Drew Smith, Edwin Diaz and nothing else. Maybe a starter or two gets bumped to the pen if everyone is healthy but this needs to be the priority at the deadline.

Another 7 shutout innings for Alcantara. He's now got 130.1 innings in 18 starts (averaging around 7.2 IP/S; Musgrove is the 2nd best at 6.6) and his ERA is down to 1.73.
