We are embarrassing tonight. Sometimes it just works like that.

Anytime we start Choo in LF it's a true indicator of poor things to come IMO.

Wait until next year if you think it's bad now

Why would you think things will be worse - sounds like you're saying much more so - next season?

Well if we go into a full rebuild mode then we will be going with a virtual rookie rotation and we're going to take a pounding during the learning process and even if we sign the usual suspects and walking wounded we still are looking at a rotation with no #1 or 2. Hopefully they say no to Fister, Moore and Perez, so could be seeing Mendez, Jurado, ABD, Hutchinson + ? as our starting 5.

Think I'll wait and see what the off season brings. We will have a better Odor and Gallo going in and that will help. Also we will have return of a healthy Elvis. Minor pitched well and we won games with some of the other pitchers. JD may have an ace or two to play. Lets wait and see.

We have Minor up thru 2020. That being said I am just looking forward to seeing our young guys grow next year. Not expecting to be world beaters.

That's what I'm advocating. Play our young guys. Yeah we'll duck but give them a year before the new park. Play Trevino, Calhoun, Heineman and next year trade Elvis, Chirinos and let AB retire. Start Mendez, Jurado, etc and let them grow

I can see where things could be worse, but it may not be. No Hamela for half a season, probably no Beltre, no Kela, no Diekman, Choo will be a year older, and probably not as much from Colon. Overall it might be a lot to expect any more from Odor or Elvis, if Elvis is still here. Gallo, Guzman, and Mazara will probably give us more. It is hard to say about IKF as he has already outperformed expectarions. There will certainly be growing pains in the rotation and maybe in the pen. Also, position wise we have been fairly healthy. That may not be the case next season comparitively speakimg. It is really hard to say which direction this team will go win-wise next year.

I kind of want to keep Andrus. He just turned 30 and has plenty left in the tank plus he is a great clubhouse guy and possible mentor.

If the goal is to contend in 2020, I think we must pick up at least two TORPS in 2019. Can't see waiting longer to find out we waited too long and no one available. BUT, is 2020 the year? idk

2020 is too optimistic I think. We have young pitchers on the way that we won't have to tie up $25-30 million per year on. They just won't be ready to pitch extremely well in a big league environment in 2020. Some won't even be able to pitch in the big leagues until well into the 2020 season or maybe even 2021. Once we get everything in place then we can decide if we have to spend a ton on a top pitcher. If 2 of Ragans, Palumbo, Crouse, and Winn work out then we won't. If only one of them works out we might be able to get by with a #2 or #3 at that point from free agency and those would be a whole lot cheaper. They wouldn't hamstring us for any other moves that we might want to make.

His line from last night and some comments from Scott Lucas.

SP Joe Palumbo: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 2 SO, 1.93 ERA

"In his home debut, Joe Palumbo lacked the scintillation of his previous start at San Antonio but didn't suffer much for it. I saw a few more fastballs that didn't travel where I think he intended. He also threw two wild pitches and committed an error on a pickoff. (Amusingly, he immediately succeeded in picking off the same runner at a different base.) Regardless, he never let an inning get out of hand..."
