That's why the Devils being punished for Kovy cap circumvention is BS. Don't take their picks, give them an A for effort.

You're damn right, jstew...

/Although I think the main issue (definitely in the Flames case) is a serious lack of talent.

Maybe not on the ice, but all you have to do is look at the amount of money Wang actually spends on his hockey team compared with the cap hits to know he's been Cooking the Books for years.

I think both Calgary and Long Island just can't put the pieces together, with NYI just not really giving a fuck.

At least Calgary tries to put a winning team on the ice. Wang is more concerned about how much money he can save while finding a way to reach the cap floor.

A situation I'm not used to...

The NHL is within another lockout, and my favorite team, for the first time, has actual financial credibility:heh:

Usually when this shit would be going on it was always my team that was being considered for relocation or worse...

I realize what Wang has been doing is legal under the current NHL rules, but it's BULLSHIT in my book. The Isles two biggest acquisitions this offseason were Lubomir Visnovsky & Brad Boyes.

Visnovsky has a 5.6M cap hit while Wang only has to pay him 3M in actual salary. Boyes was the Islanders #1 target on July 1st. That's right, he was the first STINKING player they called about signing. Doug Weight actually had to convince him to sign with the Islanders.

We're not talking about a player that can actually help the Islanders win games here. We're talking about Brad Boyes who scored 8 goals & 15 assists for the Buffalo Sabres last year while making 4M bucks. The Isles gave him a 1 year 1M deal.

Name 1 other team in the entire league who would be interested in signing Brad Boyes going into this offseason?

Calgary signed Dennis Wideman, Jiri Hudler & Roman Cervenka. There's a huge difference in the two teams.

Well in fairness, the Isles big moves of late have been not letting every single talented player on their team walk.

:spit:

In reality, it is the ownership that is strong. It is a nice position to be in, and one that the Penguins have rarely ever enjoyed. You can poke fun about bandwagon fans all you want, that is a universal symptom in all professional sports.

It's the ownership that makes the greatest difference. I am very thankful that two savvy businessmen like Mario and Burkle are at the helm during times like these.

Your team cheated best to get the player who saved the franchise. If the Devils had tanked just a little better they would probably have 6 Stanley Cups & the Penguins wouldn't exsist.
