When your teams best players are either in their ELC contracts or the ELC has just expired it's tough for them to go anywhere else. Especially when your team has a lot of money coming off the books every year. Any team dumb enough to give an Islanders player an offer sheet is only going to make salaries higher for the rest of the league because the Isles will match their offer.

The Isles are set this season too. If the season is played the Islanders will have over 15M coming off the books at the end of the year from only 6 players. So go ahead & make a ridiculous offer to Hamonic. It won't do your team any good.

Considering what Edmonton has done over the past couple seasons, I really expected this stigma to disappear. You can increase your odds only so much. it still comes down to a lucky bounce of a pingpong ball.

There wasn't a ping pong ball back then. The worst team got the 1st pick period. The Ping Pong balls came after the tanking for Super Mario.

They need to change the lottery system. The first thing they should do is just show the damn process on TV so people don't think it's fixed. The second thing is make it so whoever wins the lottery no matter whether it's the worst team or the 14th team they get the 1st pick overall.
