The only problem with that prediction is people hve been making it since Pele came to the Cosmos in the 70's...so it's a rolling 15 years

BTW

NFW

I've heard this argument before but times are changing. The hispanic community is quickly going from minority to majority, the US National Team is becoming better and more success means more interest from casual fans, I doubt games were as easily accessible on TV when Pele played, and with the increase in injuries for football fewer parents will let their kids play. Look at MLS and the expansion that has occurred.

Baseball is a dying sport. We are an ADD generation, we need everything now, and baseball hasn't evolved enough to keep up with the times.

Soccer as a spectator sport doesnt florish in this country for the very same ADD reasoning you are applying to baseball, which still regularly fills large stadiums for 82 games a year plus large TV audiences. I'm guessing your argument is a reflection of your personal tastes not facts.

BTW I coached soccer for 12 years and most of those kids watch football, baseball, hockey & basketball before soccer

Negative, I'm a huge baseball fan. However, the games drag. Nobody wants to sit around and watch a 4 hour game anymore. Soccer you know exactly how long it will last, it will start and be finished generally in under 2 hours.

Again, ESPN has started showing soccer, Fox has started showing soccer, the next World Cup will be in prime time. Soccer is on the rise, baseball is on the decline. I'm too lazy to look up numbers but I can pretty much guarantee this as fact.

The only reason soccer is on TV (other than probably WC) is there are 800 channels in need of content. I stand by the statement that even kids that play soccer tend to go to/watch football/baseball/basketball/hocket before soccer

Fox is showing an EPL game this weekend. I know I won't be watching. I hope you enjoy it.

Not only did Fox show a Soccer game on National TV, but they had the audacity to show it on tape delay. Hey Rupert Murrdoch what's the point of telivising a stupid soccer game if you aren't going to show it LIVE?

soccer and hockey don't thrive because this country seems to get more out of discussing the game, then watching the game.. and in order to discuss the game, it has to be broken up a lot.. like in football, 1 play, 3 replays, 40 seconds to discuss the play. repeat. maybe throw in a challenge or two to get 10 replays instead of 3.

hockey and soccer are continuous action for the whole time, and the reason soccer gets an even worse rap then hockey is because soccer cameras, typically, are high in the sky because international soccer fans want to appreciate the 'beauty' of the game.. lower that camera, like the mls has, and you start to see the speed these guys are playing with and it is far more fast-paced and exciting

watching hockey and soccer is purely entertaining by itself, IMO.. football and baseball are more difficult to enjoy by yourself, but are much better to watch in a social atmosphere because you can have discussion and interaction w/ your piers, and not miss anything

fuck the nba.

So far, the NHL refs haven't made one bad call.

How's the NFL doing?

When a player falls to the ground acting like he's been shot by somebody without even being touched, I can't have any respect for the sport.

Here's the difference the refs can call diving & put the guy in the penalty box. It can hurt his team in a big way. In Soccer diving is encouraged by teams so they can get free kicks & their opponents thrown out of the game.

lol theres no fuckin difference

referees call only the diving penalty (without a corrsponding penalty on the other team) as often as soccer officials yellow card for simulation
