I think Akeson has generally done good things for the Flyers up until that penalty. Maybe it is best to just scold him & give him another chance?

Glad we believe in 2nd chances. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance at least once IMO.

I agree Cobiemonster. I mentioned a few posts back in this thread that the combination of Giroux/Voracek had to be active tonight. Giroux was non-existent tonight and the combination did little or nothing. Simmonds the third guy I predicted needed to be present was also non-existent. Like I said, we had better fix this or this series is going to be difficult to win.

I know that the lines as it is can get hot but you can't always count on it - I would consider dumping Scott Hartnell off that top line and putting Michael Raffl on it, they had instant chemistry for a while there earlier in the season - put Vinny with Harts and Simmer and then Brayden Schenn can play wing with Couts and Reader

Or as I said earlier, I'd be slotting G with Couts and Reader from time to time - I think Couts could really shine offensively if he was put with G for a bit - I think loading up might not be the worst thing in the world just to see what you might be able to do - although keeping the lines spaced can help when the top guys aren't stepping up, but nobody is really stepping up in a game like tonight so it's hard to say

If these changes work I'm good with them but if we don't move our feet and play with effort we will get what we got tonight. I'm glad it's not a 1 game series. Let's go !

One positive is that the Flyers' forecheck looked rather effective against the Rangers' dmen. If they could sustain that effort on the forecheck, it very well may wear the Rangers' dmen out and get the Flyers back in the series.

The one goal they scored was EXACTLY how they should have been playing the entire game - that was glorious how it all worked out, and then they just went away from that and it's infuriating

I think they were doing fine until Akeson took that penalty, then everything started to fall apart.

We weren't getting enough shots or chances on Lundqvist before the penalty to Akeson, but sadly that one double minor ruined our chances of potentially getting the game into overtime and stealing it 2-1. That said, I think it's a joke that we only got one power play in this game. That also needs to change.

It's time to bring more physicality and take shots from the point with Lundqvist screened. We need to get the dirty goals here. This is where guys like Hartnell, Simmonds and Schenn make a living.

Once again, I thought that Emery looked shaky despite just barely keeping us in the game and as usual, we did not score goals for him.
