Claude Giroux having possession of the puck and carrying it in against McDonagh and Girardi hasn't worked, so why not change it up? The linemates are at fault as well for not doing enough to help him - they have to work hard along the boards and give him a chance to have open space - that's why you dump the puck in behind them, so that you can get them to make a mistake and your board guys like Scott Hartnell can play along the boards and then give G an open chance because of McD/Girardi still being behind the net

The way they were doing it before, if G kept carrying it in against those guys, they'd eat it up quickly - you have to make adjustments

The same people who complain that the Flyers didn't make adjustments in previous games against the Rangers at MSG and wanted them to do so, now complain that the Flyers should have just stuck to their own game - can't have it both ways, sometimes you have to make adjustments - you can't always play your style no matter what people think - teams have game plans for what you're going to do and sometimes you have to adjust and give teams different looks so they have to think twice

I'm tired of answering and talking about the same crap - just want the Flyers to play much better and get a win in game 2 so this will go by the wayside

IDK who these people are that you're referring to. Flyers actually didn't do bad against the Rangers, splitting the season series 2-2. I'm fine with making adjustments but not ones which neutralize your strengths like having Giroux dump & chase. Also, just as the physical play of the Flyers led to that goal by MacDonald, that type of play also led to Akeson's 4:00 penalty which cost them the game.

You can play physical without hitting a guy in the face with your stick. That was just a bonehead play - keep your stick on the ice and rather than a double minor going the other way, you've made a solid check and have something to amp up your team.

Don't forget, while we got outplayed in the second, the third was very even until that penalty.

Agreed with all of this - there's nothing wrong with being physical, many of the great teams are physical, but they are smart

Looking back I think Akeson gets too much blame for that penalty. Yes it was all his fault & yes it cost them the game, but he's also a small guy and more likely to lose control of his body on impact. Maybe he was just following orders which was to hit everything in a Ranger jersey? Maybe some players should be doing the hitting. I think Berube's strategy needs to be modified somewhat. I think only some players should be throwing their bodies around. Physical play is not for everyone & Berube should realize that.

IDK, not calling Berube stupid, but I think he's putting too much emphasis on physical play & it's sacrificing his team's skillful play. I'm fine with dumping & chasing but Giroux shouldn't 't be chasing. Akeson should be blasting bodies. Let the role players & big bodies on the team handle that sort of stuff.

hmm so I am just wondering here...do I want my goalie to be a "bad-ass" or not to be a "bad-ass". if he has potential to be a "bad-ass" i should probably like him....

i'm sorry i don't know what you are getting at in the first comment, he just played bad goal. i swear hockey fans in general refuse to move on. the flyers are still looked at as a dirty team with a broad street bully mentality when in fact they are just undisciplined. rinaldo's hit at the end of the year was the only incident this year. Ray Emery was a headcase almost 10 years ago, the Flyers organization doesnt put up with that kind of shit why would they bring him back to be a pain in the ass?

the second comment i don't know where to begin again other than the way that this league is I am surprised the Flyers don't beg for more calls. we are the only ones who don't, and definitely aren't getting any help. to get 1 penalty in that game is ridiculous, there should have been 3 calls on NY prior to the first penalty on Hall.

First of all he is a cancer in the clubhouse "bad-ass" means is he thinks he is better than a lot of other players and isnt and was never really a good goaltender. Why would the Flyers want him back? Thanks Im glad you have him back and please put him in net for game 2

I didn't think Emery was really that bad. Only after the Akeson penalty, when the rest of the team fell apart, did he start letting in goals.

If you are meaning the pp goals, well, goalies have to stop them too. But, Do I think the Flyers are a better team with Mason? Yes absolutely.

I agree but I wouldn't blame Emery for the loss. I think Mason would've lost that game as well.

so on what basis do you think Mason would have lost as well.....you dont know. the whole dynamic of a game can change with a different goalie and dont say shots because IMO I think the Flyers would have had a least 25 or more......

Unless Mason could stretch out like Mr Fantastic, no way he makes those saves on Richards & Stepan.

you dont know ......there a sublimal thought and a realistic one. You wouldnt have known unless he was in net for those 2 shots

Maybe he makes the save on Richards, no way he makes the save on Stepan. No goalie would've made that save.

I just dont think the Flyers can win without Mason

I'll agree there, but I don't think they would've won even if Mason was in net last night. That loss was not on Emery. The Flyers just fell apart in the 3rd period. A complete mental breakdown.

He's involved, but like I said before, not likely that Mason would've won that game if he played instead. Not with his teammates taking all those stupid penalties in the 3rd. Basically what I'm saying is that Emery's blame for the loss should be minimal. I would blame a lot of Flyers for the loss over Emery.
