The Doobster
Claude Giroux having possession of the puck and carrying it in against McDonagh and Girardi hasn't worked, so why not change it up? The linemates are at fault as well for not doing enough to help him - they have to work hard along the boards and give him a chance to have open space - that's why you dump the puck in behind them, so that you can get them to make a mistake and your board guys like Scott Hartnell can play along the boards and then give G an open chance because of McD/Girardi still being behind the net
The way they were doing it before, if G kept carrying it in against those guys, they'd eat it up quickly - you have to make adjustments
The same people who complain that the Flyers didn't make adjustments in previous games against the Rangers at MSG and wanted them to do so, now complain that the Flyers should have just stuck to their own game - can't have it both ways, sometimes you have to make adjustments - you can't always play your style no matter what people think - teams have game plans for what you're going to do and sometimes you have to adjust and give teams different looks so they have to think twice
I'm tired of answering and talking about the same crap - just want the Flyers to play much better and get a win in game 2 so this will go by the wayside
IDK who these people are that you're referring to. Flyers actually didn't do bad against the Rangers, splitting the season series 2-2. I'm fine with making adjustments but not ones which neutralize your strengths like having Giroux dump & chase. Also, just as the physical play of the Flyers led to that goal by MacDonald, that type of play also led to Akeson's 4:00 penalty which cost them the game.
