ND vs Purdue Pre Game Day Thread:

Well we are 1-1 and the problem I thought would be the offense, but the problem is the Defense. They just look Bad. CBs look like crap.

We should win this one easy but who knows. I think my prediction of 9-3 looks good. Also I had a feeling we would lose to one of the Mich games. Refs sucked at the end of the game but either way I think the game was over. Our D couldnt stop anything.

Prediction: ND wins 31 to 13.

They just can't leave them in one on one coverage all that often because they can't handle it. They didn't last year and they still can't. They need to land a top CB recruit bad, hopefully Nick Watkins commits, and another DB.

Yes we need some secondary players. Diaco better do something before he becomes that guy that was about to be a HC to a guy not coaching at ND anymore. Im just shocked how bad the D looks.

They had to much confidence in the CBs being able to cover man to man after a year of experience. They still need more help than that and it seems pretty simple to me. They will have to continue to coddle them all season. Also Diaco didn't adjust at all to Gardner running the ball, he should have had someone spying him in the second half.

After seeing what Purdue did, or should I say didn't do, against ISU, ND should bury them. If ND struggles with Purdue this week, it could be a loooong year. I feel they should come out on fire and make this a quick game before heading into some tough games.

Agree with everyone here. Purdue is pure garbage this year. If its anything like last year, we are in for a long season. I hope we come out and dominate an opponet instead of trying to get cute. Purdue got rocked by a very average Cincinnati team and barely beat Indiana St. I don't care that this is at Ross Ade.

MSU will be more of a challenge because their defense is legit, but their offense is bad enough that even our defense should be able to handle them.

I thought I would have a better understanding of ND after the Michigan game but I still don't really feel like I know how good this teams is or can be. Before the season I thought we would have a very good or great defense and an average to slightly above average offense. I have been satisfied with the offense and very disappointed in the defense because of my expectations.

Purdue should be an easy win because ND is at least an above average team and Purdue looks to be awful. I'm not looking for an ass whoopin' because ND often plays flat at home, Purdue has a history of sometimes playing ND tough, and I think the ND coaches will be trying some different things because this team has not yet found its way. We should kill them, but I don't think we will.

Oops about the home game mix up. I would also really like to see a smothering and vicious defense. Even if it is against PU, it would give me hope that the defense can do something. Haven't seen many signs of life in the defensive effort so far.

The defense has given up 25 first downs in each of the first two games. The only times we gave up 20 or more 1st downs last year was against Oklahoma (22) and Bama (28). Not counting the Bama debacle, ND's defense gave up an average of 14.5 1st downs per game. The ND defense needs to make some damned stops! If I see the chains move for Purdue more than 15 times I'm gonna... well not sure what I will do but it probably won't be very nice.
