Thanks for the Cooper breakdown. I haven't seen many games he's played in during his career.
Great catch radius and can compete for 50/50 balls better than most. He just struggles to be a vertical threat and a horizontal threat that can run away from coverage.

Quick and dirty QB Rankings top half

1. Rodgers- reigning 2 time MVP - old but still prob. the best
2. Josh Allen- took a big step up
3. Joe Burrow- honeslty though- who would I rather have- him, MAhomse or Herbert- id take Burrows aover the other 2
4. DeShaun Watson- on talent alone he belongs here
5. Pat Mahomes- still was great- but had a rocky year and now the scariest deep threat in the NFL is gone- KElce at 33 aint young either
6. Justin Herbert- unbelievable
7. Matt Stafford- cant argue with winning the super bowl
8. Tom Brady- old but still good
9. Dak Prescott- plays great
10. Lamar Jackson
11. Russell Wilson
12. David Carr
13. Kyler Murray
14. Ryan Tannehill
15. Matt Ryan
16. Kirk Cousins

after that it gets messy ranking anyone. Worst QB situations have to be Seattle, Carolina, Houston, Falcons, Giants- 4 of the 5 in the NFC.

tons of young guys that are hard to rank like Jags with Lawrence, Pats with Jones, Bears with Fields, Jets with Wilson, Steelers with Pickett, Miami with Tua, 49'ers with Lance (or Jimmy G I guess)---- probably none of which will be impact guys this year.

lot of mediocre with Commanders with Wentz, Saints with Winston, Lions with Goff, Hurts with the Eagles in the NFC

AFC is LOADED with good QB's. Basically about 10 good QB's in the AFC and about 4-5 good QB's in the NFC.

lol

Based on talent alone...Ryan Leaf was easily the best QB prospect in his draft.

How'd that work out?

I've heard top NFL coaches and GM's say that Jeff George had one of the best arms they'd ever seen.

Talent means nothing without production.

Sorry, fellas. But I'm STILL reeling over this Watson>Mahomes thing. Of course you know this MUST get re-visited when the regular season rolls around...

Oh, and you ALSO know I'd place a nice li'l Avi bet to PROVE which QB is better, but since the punkass coward has me on ignore I can't do that....

While we're on this topic...has Watson ever played with weapons in Houston that will be as paltry as what he has to work with in Cleveland? Great running game and solid TE group but no WR talent to speak of.
Well I wouldn't say no WR talent and they are far from done.

Cooper, DPJ, Njoku and Harrison isn't ideal but they still have a lot of cap and the draft to add pieces. I think they will add Will Fuller or another WR then hopefully they draft George Pickens. That wouldn't be a top group in the NFL but certainly middle of the pack. DPJ could certainly be ready for a breakout season with Watson, he has a nice upside.

In Houston he had Fuller and Cooks but Fuller was usually hurt. They do have a good connection though. Then of course they had Fuller and Hopkins. They never really had a very good TE though, running game or OL.

Holy Shit!! Screamin' A was right about something. lol
Just found out some kid cried to the guidance department about me. I always talk sports with the kids especially this class with 20 boys out 23 students at 8th period. And 2 months ago I told this kid he was Skip Bayless after he said Derek Carr is the best QB in the NFL. So now he’s all in his feelings because whenever the kid tries to talk to his friends about sports they all call him Black Skip Bayless now. Fucking love my job haha.

when you say production would having the 2nd highest QB rating in the history of the NFL be production?

  • 2020 NFL passing yards leader (4,823 yards)
  • Career passer rating of 104.5, ranking second all-time among quarterbacks
  • The fastest player in NFL history to 100 passing touchdowns and 15 rushing touchdowns
  • The fifth-fastest player to reach 100 passing touchdowns in NFL history
  • Most touchdown passes in a single season in Texans history
  • One of four quarterbacks in NFL history to finish a season with more than 4,500 passing yards, more than 30 touchdowns, fewer than 10 interceptions and an average of more than 8.5 yards per pass.

And look at all of those wins that has led to.

Right now, he's the NFL's version of Russell Westbrook.

Obviously Watson isn't ahead of Mahomes but certainly can't hold Watson accountable for having basically a bad team around him his entire career. They refused to give him a decent OL at best. We will see with a much better team around him.
Mahomes should be higher on the list somewhere in the top 3 if not at 1 or 2. Watson is probably in the top 7 bc of the missed year but if it was 2 years ago he would probably be in the top 5. Hard to know now.

You're right, I have to change my line of thinking. Stefanski does not need to cater the offense to Baker now. He can breath and open up the playcalling, they need WR's, not TE's. I think Njoku and Harrison is fine.

Agree on Fuller, the injury history is worrisome but he would be a #2/3 slot guy, it all depends on who they draft at WR though. I like Skyye Moore, if they draft him then Fuller doesn't make sense. DPJ has shown some promise so interested to see if he can improve with Watson at QB. DPJ and Cooper, that's all they pretty much have at this point so WR is a clear need. Maybe they wait till the 3rd and target a guy like Pierce (if lasts till the 3rd). It will defintely be interesting to see how Stefanski calls plays now that he has an entire playbook to work with.
Schwartz doesn't have any upside? I get why you didn't mention Grant....he's 29 and has never done much.

I'm being serious.

I'm not the biggest advocate of winning record for a QB because there are 11 starters on offense and 11 on defense.

But, the only losing season Houston had with Watson leading their offense? 2020 when they went 4-12. He went 3-3 as a rookie. 11-5 in 2018 and 10-5 in 2019.

28-25 and that one bad season really skews that %.

You are so ridiculous

Ranking Watson over Mahomes?

Just like you said a couple years ago Baker was going to be just as good.

Homer going to homer.
Mahomes was very good last year but he certainly wasnt as good as he had been. And now he loses the biggest game breaking receiver in football. We shall see.

I get that Watson has not played for a while- but I think people are forgetting just how dynamic he is. All the receivers should play up for him.

He is going to be behind the best o-line he has ever had....the best complimentary running game he has ever had.....I cant wait to see Kareem Hunt catch balls out of the backfield.....probably the best tight end he has ever had. Crazy to think Njoku is still only 25 years old. Cooper is a very solid WR. Schwartz is one of the fastest players in the NFL- but they could still use another WR without a doubt since Idont want to rely on Peoples-Jones as a #2.

I cant wait to see how Watson and the passing game open up the running game even more. Chubb and Hunt are gonna feast.

He had Hopkins in Houston before he got dealt to Arizona by O'Brien.

Schwartz has upside but he needs to learn the game. He has world-class speed---- however- in the game where Baker got hurt- he broke off his route, caused the interception, and then baker got hurt. He has a lot of development to do as a football player

but he can absolutely burn. He has upside- but he has a lot of work to do as a football player.

Cooper's on the decline but he can still be a solid player and they will probably bring back Landry. They could go receiver at 44.

and AT LEAST 4 NFL teams offered 3 first round picks for him. I believe half the teams in the league inquired but he struck many of the list right off the bat.
